I've pretty much got all of it down, but i've heard about some kind of liquid inside the front tube...what exactly is the liquid and what should i replace it with should i spill it or something?

You shouldn't have liquid to worry about. The cartridge should be sealed.

Although if you feel that you must replace any water that's gotten between the cartridge and the carrier make sure you replace it with deionized water. It won't rust the metal as badly as tap or saltwater will.

i put a kyb insert into my 5th gen.....

if the liquid u are talking abount is the shock fluid..... then just tip it into a container..... clean and slip insert in tighten up top and put spring back on.......

The cartridges are sealed, but the struts are filled with a very thin oil -- for heat dispersion. Air is not a good conductor. The oil transfers heat away from the actual shock (the cartridge in rebuildable struts), improving function and prolonging life.

KYB recommends simply capturing the oil from your struts and re-using it, so be careful when taking the gland nut off, and of course use a very clean container to collect it.

Keep in mind the oil's not there for lubrication so viscosity isn't the issue and it hasn't been subjected to the kind of use which breaks down engine oil. And as a side note, do not use engine oil as a replacement. Motorcycle fork fluid will do, but it'd cost dearly.

Wouldn't some sort of heat conducting grease work best? When I took mine apart I didn't find any fluid. Maybe it had all leaked out.

ha too late, i put a little bit of used motor oil when i did put blisten inserts.

ya, i saw it on youtube on blistein inserts, they put oil on it but im not sure if thats manufacturer recommended.
