Herosblade's paint correction day - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #69861 16 posts Started by 808celica
Heroblade's car was dirty white so he asked if we could work on the paint. well now his car is gleaming white biggrin.gif

GTfour spoiler off and washed with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash

Polishing compound and 2 cheap buffers

1 pass only on each panel

808celica2damax shows up with the fancy "real" buffer

Herosblade's turn

after the polishing compound we went from this

to this.

working out the oem spoiler gunk

You can see where I missed mad.gif spot that isnt shiney near the trim

Finally done!

Waxed with Tech wax 2.0

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
End Result

Parked both white cars in my garage cuz Herosblade didnt want his car getting "dirty" cwm13.gif starting to sound like me laugh.gif
We took my car out for a break to fix 808celica2damax's car problem.

So here's what we did:
-Wash with Chemcal Guys Citrus (2 cap full per gallon takes off everything)
-Used polishing compound on the whole car 1 pass only
-skipped a few steps i wanted to do kindasad.gif like going over with Swirlx and my other chemicals wink.gif
-went straight to Tech wax 2.0 cuz we were all tired.

We used Microfiber clothes to polish off. Waffle weave fiber cloth to dry the car after the wash.
There's more pics and info im sure i left out. Questions welcome biggrin.gif

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
As soon as we're almost done the rain comes..........kindasad.gif

.......and guess which cars are outside??

laugh.gif jks!

My original plan was:
CG citrus wash
clayba,r 1 pass
polishing compound, 2 pass
swirlx, 2 pass
cleaner wax, 2 pass
tech wax 2.o, 2 laeyrs
then Collinite #845 Insulator Wax, 1 layer

It's really hard to tell on the progress we made especially on a white car.
Brightened the pic so you can see the corners of the license plate panel where it's still "tan" looking and the rear bumper where the work was done. (yes we didnt do the inside license plate, we were tired at this point)
Pretty much the was that color or a little brighter. Now the whole car is really white.

Solo shot in front of my house with good light. You can see the dents (towards the rear) now, as well as the touch up paint, and the neglect from the preivous owner.

Looks great, but I think you should delete those bump guards for him too.

we'll do that when we paint his car wink.gif

I was gonna say...I just washed and waxed and I noticed a bunch of water spots, and just an insane amount of ingrained sh!t on the license bezel and rear bumper. I have to suck it up and clay, seal, etc. since I've never done that. All in all, I'll make sure there's beer and good food here if you come over and do the same for my car 808. biggrin.gif

With the exception of the buffers (I assume it can also be done by hand, although painstakingly?), how much did you spend on the supplies?

That car came out very well Jon!

I often times see in peoples detailing threads on other forums, they hold up a halogen light to the car and take the picture and it reveals more of what was achieved with the waxing, and shows all the flaws in the paint. thumbsup.gif

What you used. Not bad, that's not a ridiculous amount. Your personal stash is though. biggrin.gif
