ATS Extended push rod question - 6G Celicas Forums

Has anyone ever installed one of these extended push rods? i pulled my slave cyclender off and i am trying to install the new one, it is longer by atleast an inch. The problem im having is that it seems like its TOO long...i can put the end of the rod into the little cup like holder and into the slave cyclender but i can not bolt it back to the block, it just wont let me. i can only push the metal bracket out so far. is there a trick to this? i need to get this thing in asap so any help would be greatly appreciated.

i used a speed source one on jims car, but didnt have any issues installing it.

alright well after fighting with it for a good hour or so i finally got it in...only to figure out that its TOO long and its not letting the clutch engage at all...so after all that i ended up pulling it back out and putting the stock one back in...figures....the one that i got from speed source says that its for an mkIV supra...its bascially the same thing just longer...alot longer...probably by about an inch or so....manny how much longer was the one you got from them? did it say on the package that it was for a supra or something else?

Joe, if you look on their site, youll see that they have a normal one, and a "supra specific" one. Sounds like you bought the wrong one!
Email speed source and let them know, Im sure they will exchange it for you.
And why did you think ATS makes these when you ordered it from Speed Source? lol

those pushrods dont do anything for you, you still get the same amount of travel, its a hydraulic system. the extra length is just absorbed in the slave. but you get the same throw in the pedal....

Beg to differ.
I had trouble getting from 1st to 2nd gear at high rpms. I tried adjusting the clutch, and everything. After installing this pushrod, the issue went away.
The pedal throw is the same, but the clutch disengagement is larger.

yea after installing the wrong one (the supra one) i can see how it would make a difference...its pushing out on the clutch fork just a little more to help when you press the clutch in...i'll tell you what...i know the supra one was way too long..but o0 my god..the pedal was so stiff it was redicilous...i am really curious to see how the right one will afect the stiffness of the pedal now, but really, i am more concerned that it works properly...because 1st to 2nd is impossiable in my car after 5500
