3s-gte vs 3s-gtte - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #7012 13 posts Started by 1_Winged_Angel
between school and work I havent had a lot of time to play with my celica, but I have managed to save up a couple Gs to put into my engine bay. One question though for the swappers out there. would it be better to get the 3s-gtte? or get a 3s-gte and add the extra T later?

Actually, there is no such thing as a 3S-GTTE. Even if there was a twin turbo 3S-GTE, it would still be called the 3S-GTE, like how the 2JZ-GTE only has one T, despite being a twin turbo engine in the MKIV Supra. >wink.gif>

Plus, on an engine as small as the 3S-GTE, you only need one turbo. I'd imagine that setting up a twin turbo setup would cost a ton of money and really wouldn't be worth it, when you could spend that money on other parts for the engine.

New Toyota project coming soon...
yeh the twin turbo setup has already been discussed and agreed to be insanely unreasonable.
4 Cyl engines dont produce enough exhaust to push 2 turbines.

the 3s-gte is a 4 cylinder engine and there isnt a manifold that you can make that would be able to have two flanges for the turbos.

the reason that i say that is because there arent any turbo's small enough to be able to fit in such a tight area

just buy a fuel management system and some internals for the engine

the 3s-gte will handle 1000hp if properly tuned.

probably more

Even if u did all that, each turbo would be pushing 2 cylinders it would kill them.

here's a questions for you guys then:

if someone wanted to upgrade the turbo on a 3s-gte, where would he find a suitable turbo? from what car? what kind of gains would you expect? would it be a reasonable way of getting more power or just a waste of money/time?

this has prolly been mentioned somewhere else before but it would be nice to have some actual discussion on this topic as well as maybe concrete all of the information >biggrin.gif>
