alternator - 6G Celicas Forums

I think my sounds are getting too big. 2 soundstream t4s. two amps on them. w 600w amps under seats for my 2 sets of components. another 600w amp under parcel tray for 6*9s on parcel tray. 1200w amp for speakers under parcel tray for when the boots open. with a cut remote and a relay onto the interior lights so it only starts when the boots on. but yeah. any easy ways of changing the alternator to a bigger one?
yup... definitely a power hungry setup. but before you consider an aftermarket setup, have you done the big 3 upgrade? otherwise, correct me if im wrong, swapping a bigger alternator is pretty much plug and play. dont know where to get them thoug. tongue.gif
Big 3 upgrade

pretty much just beefs up the electrical wiring. stock alternator, battery and ground wiring is just big enough to run the car with minimum accesories. you should consider doing this even with a bigger alternator. doesnt harm the car any and definitely helps.
^^ just noticed, the link only covers upgrading the alternating wire. there was another write up here somewhere or you could just google it, but its pretty much upgrading: alt to battery, battery to ground, and alt to chasis. and some people keep the oem wiring on and some replace them, either way, this is an easy upgrade.
get a capacitor.

^^^^What he said!!! Plus, make sure that ALL of your power wires are securely tightened on the amps. When I say "Securely tightened," I mean that suckers got to be tight. If the power/ground wire is even the slight bit of loose then it could shake while playing your music or even driving your car and cause heat instead of power to your amps. Which means that the amp is not getting fed as much power as it should!
