I think Fairfield might be a better option... There's lots of stuff to do out there. But that's just in my opinion. Keep me posted smile.gif

if there was a norcal meet, i would have to say do it in san fran. pics with the golden gate bridge in the background > fresno. big thing is to make the trip worth while for all and especially for those that are making a far drive. i just did the drive from orange county to sacramento for a rallyx last weekend and it was long and full of cops on the 5. just meeting up in a parking lot or even just a bbq wouldn't justify the trip.

my thoughts is that if there is going to be a norcal meet, norcal peeps would need to plan out what we would do and have plenty of options for us to choose from.
norcal works for me as well.

God made man....Everything else...Made in China
So lets have a nor cal meet with just a few 6gcs...take a bunch of pictures and see if we can attract some southerners?

BANNED. for life, you moron.
I'm down. The closer to Sac the better! San Fran is like three hours from my place but if there are enough people it would be worth the drive.
To get a good turn out, it's going to take a lot of organization and commitment. Anyone who says "I'll see how my schedule is during that time" can be counted out already. For everyone who says "I'll attend if it's in this location" can also be counted out. It's all about not counting your chickens before they've hatched. The meet will only benefit from those who are serious about attending. There's no reason to plan the meet around people who might not even attend. You have to take a look at the members you can depend on attending, this way it will increase the chances of the meet being a success. There has never been anything stopping NorCal members from attending SoCal meet, or SoCal members from attending NorCal meets. So just because you call it a NorCal/SoCal meet isn't going to make any difference at all. It's going to take a lot of work and a group of people are going to have to step up and ensure everything stays organized.
I agree with everything derek said, personally im not inclined to go to a so cal meet cause a 11 hour drive isn't worth it to see 6 other celicas IMO...if we had a big meet with 20+ 6gcs id go to a so cal meet...I think we need to set a date RIGHT NOW and then ppl can plan events around the meet...my .2 cents

Thanks, I think that's the mentality of a lot of members. Most people won't want to drive very far for a Celica meet unless there are 20+ 6th gens there. The problem is that if the meet is held up in NorCal, we will not even reach 10 members. Fresno would seem like a good idea at first, but it's the area with the lowest number of active 6th gen members, meaning that would force everybody else to drive very far out of their way just to meet up with 2 or 3 members. Considering SoCal has the ability to organize a 20+ Celica meet on it's own, it's just the most logical place to meet. Even though there are 20+ SoCal members, making them drive up to Fresno will knock out 50% of them, and making them drive up to NorCal will knock out 80% of them.

Keep in mind, it takes YOU who has 1 Celica to help add to that 20 or 20+. Imagine if everyone felt that way, there would pretty much be no meet at all. It takes the will of individuals alone, to combine for a large meet. Those who all want to go for the sake of going, can contribute to the numbers, while those who sit back and wait let nothing happen.

I just don't want to go to Fresno, because I hate Fresno as much as I hate my own city and all other cities within the central valley. Rude people, bad air quality, horrible weather (in which by this, I mean weather that is never favorable except for spring and fall), and very very limited things to do. I can honestly see the meet in Fresno mostly spent driving through neighborhoods rather than good canyons, freeways, etc.. That you would find in SoCal.

Well...if 50% of 20 is 10..and there is 10 nor cal ppl and 10+10=20 and if Istanbul is somewhere in this region(family guy pun)..thats 20 celicas..meaning that will attract a bunch more 6gcs smile.gif hahaha jk jk

I think so cal and nor cal guys would be willing to drive to Fresno to get a fairly good sized California 6gc meet going. Here lets start a list..People that will drive to fresno for a celica meet regardless of 6gc count:

I know you were kidding, but just so you know, the 10 Celica NorCal meet was already including the SoCal and Fresno members. So that's 10 total, no more.

Honestly, I would not be down for a Fresno meet because there's simply no reason at all for me to be in Fresno. Just knowing that I would have a 4 hour drive in either direction after the meet is over is not very tempting for me.
when was the last time we had a norcal meet? and how much people are actually in norcal/fresno/socal anyways? if the meet is held in nor-cal, i'll come
Honestly, I'm telling you guys. We need to do something like this.

NorCal/SoCal Annual Meet

(Example, as it will change in favor of NorCal or SoCal every other year)

This year
NorCal Hosts North and South Meet:

(What this means is that NorCal is responsible for coming up with where to meet and what to do for that meet, and then the following year, SoCal will have to do the same thing)

This is what I have been talking about, but it seems that SoCal is more for it than NorCal, and it seems that those in the middle (and literally the middle of no where as Central Valley is NOTHING compared to the bay area or SoCal, trust me, I know) just want everyone to come to them.

Since this thread is regarding who will come up to Fresno, I will not take that away from anyone. But from the suggestion above (which I think is a good suggestion, and not because I thought of it), when you are all ready for that, let me know. Because I plan on having my car FULLY converted by next Summer and honestly, after that... I am not sure if I am going to be driving my Celica to any meets. I would hate to risk an accident traveling after so much money and work has been put into her. That's just my input though, I am nobody special, just thought I would share that.

i'm in but i need to know the date at least a month ahead of time so i can book time off, i think it would be well worth the drive......lets do this!

San Fransisco is a good place. Lots of fun roads to drive out there, too. And the Golden Gate pics would look sick.

I like the alternating NorCal/SoCal hosting idea. Will be massively difficult to execute, since it's hard enough to find one person to host any sort of a meet, let alone two people in different areas. As far as NorCal is concerned, there are members up here, but the bay area isn't like LA/OC, you got toll bridges to cross and everything is jammed packed together were as down in SoCal, you can navigate from one place to another a bit easier. But it not like there aren't any meets in NorCal either. Club Lexus always host an annual meet up here and tons of members from LA/OC drive up, so setting up 6GC meet is in the realm of possibility. The key is to motivate people to get off the lazy butts and come. There's got to be an incentive (besides meeting other members).

Hell, if/when things settle down for me, I'd give this hosting thing a shot (again) and see if we can finally get a proper NorCal meet together. But we're talking about months away (possibly next summer).

It's nice to see renewed interest from new/old members. Let's keep the dialogue going. Hopefully, all this talk will eventually produce something.

That's what I am talking about. I am glad that people are getting the idea in their head and liking it. Summer is not a problem, as I said before, I wanted it to be in June (6th month for the 6gcs) for the theme of our Annual Event(s). We are going to have heavy hitters (those I like to name who are always down to attend a meet no matter where it is in Cali) and then we are going to have the house cats. But either way, it takes people to show up to encourage future people to come out and add to the list. I already know SoCal has some heavy hitters, most of which were at the meets I have been to. To me, it doesn't matter how many people we have, because I enjoy the experience for what it is. But it has to be an experience we are willing to accept and get joy from. I am certain there HAS to be places in the North area (doesn't have to be the bay as the possible inconveniences noted above) that are good to travel through and offer plenty of scenery, tempting roads, and all of the above (above for possibilities, not the inconveniences).

Anyways, I really hope we can make this happen, even if only 8 show up, I don't care.

So is this a Fresno meet thread or a discussion thread? I thought that it was decided that a Fresno meet was going to be held since Andrew already put his name on the list as the only member attending.

Well, the thing is threads kinda last on here if they are legitimate. What had happened was that people are starting to get a lil meet happy and jumping ahead of themselves, with the possibility of new meets for new areas. So in response to that, it was a suggestion to be a Fresno meet, while also raising the issue of North and South meet. Both of which I think have been decided by majority. So perhaps someone can start a thread for what we can do for our Annual meets, so that way even though it is a discussion, we can all read what is brought up, and then finally hit with a real official annual meet thread. Maybe we can keep 1 thread for all the annual photos too... Just a thought, that way they last.

f*ck the rest of u im gonna have my own celica meet...in my driveway laugh.gif If we wanna do something in eastern nor cal i can scope it out(Sacramento, vacaville, ect).I think switching where the big meet should be hosted every year is a good idea IF both sides are willing to drive to the others area,we cant have only nor cal people going the meet when its up here, and we cant only so cals going to the meet when its down there... Its gonna take some commitment from both sides to get this going..start posting opinions!!!!
