Advance Timing - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #70692 8 posts Started by freddy121389
Couldn't find any posts on this but I'm thinking of advancing my timing to get a little more power. i'm not expecting much. Also if i plan to throw a 75 shot on it should i leave the timing where it is? help?

what is out there for our cars to control ignition timing, i couldn't find a company who made such a thing for celicas.

sorry, its called an FIC not a fix lol mispelt on the Itouch.

FIC is basically an SAFC + Inigition timing

75 is pushing it on a stock 5s, almost 20hp per cylinder. do you really want to destroy your car that quick?

dont see how it would really be that much different that turboing the car for 280whp with stock internals.

the FIC can only retart timing, it cant advance it. now i guess you could get away with rotating your distributor a tad to advance over all timing for cruising and when you hit the juice the FIC will see the increase in manifold pressure and pull timing. it can also richen up the fuel a little to help compensate.

You can't advance timing on a 96+ 5sfe's the obdII ecu will reset it back to 10*btc when u try to advance it not worth running higher octane for minimal gains IMO at least for our cars u want more power u know what to do. wink.gif

that right, in fact now that i think of the the distributor cant even rotate, its not a sliding like the ODBI cars
