I will be picking up a pair of JDM Tails soon and I have a question for anyone out there that has a pair regarding the installation process. After looking over http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=40179, I'm curious to know if there is actually 4 spots for the light sockets to plug into or 3. The pictures from the Auction show 3 sockets while in the guide it shows 4? If it is only indeed 3 and you do infact have to remove the 4th, which bulb was the 4th one to? Reverse or? If you removed it how did you go about with the leftover wire/socket without bulb?

I believe there are actually 5 sockets on the USDM tails, and I guess one less on the JDM version.

There are actually 5 bulbs on the USDM tail lights, and 4 bulbs for the JDM tail lights.

For the USDM harness, there are 4 large bulbs, and 1 small bulb. The small bulb is the one you are not going to be using when installing your JDM tails. It is the bulb farthest on the outer sides of the tail lights.

My tail lights came with the JDM harness, so I did not have to do anything but plug and play. But if you do not have the JDM harness, your options could be to remove the bulb, and then tape up the plug so that no water gets in. Or you could cut off the plug entirely and then tape up the ends so that they don't touch anything. You could even go as far as removing those 2 wires completely from the harness.

honestly you dont need the harness, its just more of a pain in the ass when you change the bulbs, now just use an 10mm deep well socket i believe and unscrew the back 3 little caps pop off, then remember where the bulbs go, then the little retard bulb on the end just pull it out and tuck it under, then its all good, at least thats what i did mine with

Kinda an old bump here but I had another question. I do believe the JDM harness will be with it. So that leaves me with the question on what type of bulbs I would need for all 3 spots. Could I just take the bulbs from my USDM harness and use it on the JDM harness?

Edit: Found this in the lighting guide: "If you have the JDM tails with JDM harness you will need 7440/7443 bulbs. "

So my guess is I would need to hit up an autozone for 2 7440s(turn signals) and 2 7443s if it does infact come with the JDM Harness? I appreciate the help and I'm still waiting for them to arrive on my doorstep

You might even get bulbs with it. I got mine with the harness and bulbs, I guess they didn't feel like removing them.

I still have the bulbs that came with my JDM tails, I just used my stock USDM harness and bulbs so I didn't need the JDM harness or bulbs, I'll be more than happy to sell 'em to you. Just PM me.

Yeah, take some pics man. Dillon got new wheels, you got new tails, i got new....err...parts.

Alright so that was alot more work than I expected. I ended up having to take the trunk trim off to get access to the plugs. Alot of adjusting and about 1hour 30 minutes later I have finished! Everything seems to be working appropriately. Although when I first checked all the lights my right reverse light wasn't working but after trying again it works. Checked it about 10 more times to be sure so im just guessing it took it a couple tries to get the current to the bulb *crossing fingers that it isn't a short*

I'll try to get pics up tomorrow after work as I'm tired from fiddling with it lol

Yeah, really does look better! Now I just need to get dillon to post his wheels, and I can post my stuff after I get it done. But your right, it is really cold.
