5sgte compression ratio - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #70729 11 posts Started by b1gr3d
I cannot seem to find anything on the cr 5sgte conversiion if the 5s rods and pistons and a gen 2 3sgte head?? All I can find is that I need to get lower comp pistons

what HG are u using? HKS offers a 8.5 and a 8.8

head doesn't depict comp ratio, its all down to the pistons really unless you use a different HG (8.5 or 8.8) 0.4mm thickness difference
3s head is jsut a wide angle version of the 5s head

so with what you are saying you'll stil have 10.5:1 unless u swap HG

if you want lower comp, my suggestion would be 5s rods, custom 5s 8.5:1 pistons, 8.5 comp HG that will put u at 8.5:1, great way to go to reduce knock at 20psi+

Je offers .040 overbore 8.5:1 pistons which will run you about 900$
if you stick with your 5s crank pauter wil make you up hybrid 3s/5s rods. I would advise against it though as you have a 95', the crank is NOT forged

Actually I am wanting high comp. What I am going for is na for a few years using a 3sgte head and if possible a stock 5s botom end. I know this is in forced induction but I figured I would get an answer faster.

Plan:
stock rebuilt 3sgte head
stock 5s bottom end
750 Suzuki gsxr itb's
header back exhaust
probably safc
no real hp goal ( 150 would be nice, more even better)

Evenually this will get a turbo setup but after I get some more funds in my pocket and another engine or vehicle for down time.....
Any critisisms will be appreciated bu just be gentle

Why not just buy a complete GEN3 motor set, leave it stock, swap it in, and run it until you can afford a built 5s bottom end? It will be cheaper, faster (300hp), and a bit more reliable.

Just a suggestion.

330whp 309ft/lbs @ 21 PSI
I have the throttle bodies and the head. All I need is exhaust, cam gears, timing belt, hg and probably some other tid bits.

I don't have 2 grand sitting around to buy a complete setup nor the downtime to put it in and I will buy the parts for the boosted engine part at a time over probably 9months to a year.... And I want to try a na setup with itb's

Best of luck to you then.

Your build is going to cost you a lot of money, and the same downtime to swap in as a GEN3 swap, just with less power, just making sure you are aware of that. Should be an interesting build if nothing else. What are your plans for an ECU?

Don't know about the ecu. This is all in the concept phase still. It was a thought because I have the 3sgte head and I have a 750 sitting in my garage so what if????

pm me if u want the logic behind 5s-ge info, but jim is right gen3 or even 3s-ge is cheaper.
come time to boost your going to wish you have a better engine if you want to break that 300ish WHP barrier
pre-boosted that itb wont do much for you, although u may see SMALL gains. its not worth it for the amount of work you'll go thru

Well screw it- this engine is staying how it is and I'm gonna build a hybrid.

500hp capable and 300 dd. Doing research on setups now

I'd rather do something once correctly than try to squeeze out 5 more hp with $500 ( example)
Mr2oc is open in another window right now

you're going to need a megasquirt ecu or better in order to run ITBs...
this setup is going to run you at least 2 grand...
seriously the wrong way to go about it just because you have GSXR ITBs
sell them on Clist or ebay and put it towards something more efficient

ITBs = HIGH rpm motor with good VE......a 5sfe(sge)(sgte) is none of this.

exactly what i did tongue.gif but i made my bottom end armor piercing round proof biggrin.gif

cost me 9,000$, u could build it alot cheaper if u dont buy a 3000$ EMS and pay retail for your turbo set up tongue.gif
Gt3071r 344whp @ 13psi, 434whp @ 19psi. no sign of knock. No WI

other than mr2oc the mr2registry will also give u a few ppl running 400-800whp alot of there videos supply you with contact info
