Want info on converting interior lights - climate control button lights, to LED's.
Looks like there are already LED's in there but they are green. Want to change them to blue and red.
Anybody done this, is the voltage already stepped down for the LED's??
I'm pretty sure no one's ever done this before, you'd be the first.
It will most likely be already regulated to handle led lamps. It would just be a matter of removing the green ones and soldering on new ones.

Once you get in there though make sure they are actually LED lamps and not just standard 12V lamps

Many people have done this, and I've done it too. The bulbs behind there are standard 3v LEDs. I put blue ones behind there.

Be careful though, the lenses are green, so the blue light comes out a slightly different color. But, it's nice and easy, and desolder the old ones, and resolder the new ones. You'll want to get 3mm lights and not 5mm lights, and you'll probably have to file them down on the edges to make them fit, I just used a piece of sand paper.

The other bulbs in there that provide the backlight are 12V bulbs, and you'll need to use a resistor in there.
Just what I wanted to hear, Thanks smile.gif

Did you end up doing this? pics would be nice!:D
hate to tell you but the stock bulbs to backlight the climate control are 12v the indicator lights themselves are set for led though its not just a simple 10 min job to change the color. This is my climate control

Nice job! What bulb is installed behind the sigarette lighter?
Those are leds not a bulb
i sell these... check the for sale section

Breaking Axles...
nice thread jack pitt haha and you dont sell that exact one cause that one has my panel on it tongue.gif the lighter led i wouldnt recommend doing if you use the actual cigarette lighter because it can heat up too much and may start a fire.

just regular blue leds but you cant wire them directly in they will just burn out you have to use resistors to drop the voltage

No problem with that... you just need some experience with that to avoid re-modifing it many times beforre it will look really good...

a) green LEDs (they are on when button is active only) is just direct swap... but... you have to find small enough round LEDs (3mm) or square LEDs to fit. Also is recomended to not using high illuminated LEDs for this (if you try you find why smile.gif)

b) bulb replacenet is bit more complitaded because bulb has wider angle beam than LEDs -> you may expect darker and lighter sports using LEDs. To minimize that is essential using high illumination LEDs. Plus you must use proper resistors or LEDs will burn (usual working voltage for LEDs is 3.5-4.5V)

No more replicas... This is evolution... This isSS-four:)________[Featured Celica of 6gc.net @ 2010]_________
