Saw this posted on another forum, a GREAT reason why on any car you should change the oil at the recommended interval.

Once I was working on a Dodge Caravan that was traded in with about 25k on it, had some pretty bad rod knock. Put it on the rack running so my supervisor could hear it, when i turned on my flashlight I saw a big "FACTORY INSTALLED" stamp on the oil filter, stupid people NEVER changed the oil and all the shavings tore up the motor.

i handed him down an '83 honda accord almost 3 yrs ago. no type of maintenance done since he got it including oil changes. now it just died.
