Did you use them since they tinted your windows? My wife's 96 takes for ever for the back to defrost. Mine on the other hand is good in minuets. It's certainly a possibility that they didn't reconnect them or the fuse or connection to the relay. Oh yeah I want to see some new pictures of your car too. Mine is at the shop for now. I'll get new pictures when I get it back.
Do you hear the relay click on the driver side kick panel when you push the rear defrost button? Also you can put a multitester to the two connectors on the back window to see if they broke the defroster stripes on the back window. Also can disconnect the stripes (be really careful cause I broke one of the tabs off) and test to see if you get 8-12 volts to the back defroster stripes. If you break the connector or the stripes are cut then you are tough out of luck. Try this you tube link.

Hey man not to thread jack, but since you asked. Turned out to be a cylinder was not firing. So I was running only on 3. Should be a easy fix.

bump for an update, im confused, i bought a multi-meter yesterday and started looking at the fuse in the fuse box in the dash and under the hood, all fuses look good, defrost fuse was tested and is fine. so i was thinking maybe there was a break in the lines, hook up the ohm setting on the multi meter and flows through fine, so im guessing that between the fuse and the glass its cut somewhere or im missing a fuse, but like i said the relay can be heard clicking on.
can someone please help me before i tear my interior out?

Start by removing the seats

dp
Tore the entire dash apart, still no further than yesterday, guess pulling the rear seats tomorrow

Horray!!!!!!! finally figured out the problem, after tearing out the front seat, dash board, kick panels, rear plastics, rear seats and carpet.
the conection where the hatch lifts up the power wire looks like it literally caught fire in the conector, it was black and all melted together.
pulled it out and soldered it back together and i have defrost now, and it only took 4 damn hours

NEW BUMP! Is this a common problem with the celicas? I have the exact same thing with mine which i just found, the connector is melted and blackened. This seems like it is becoming a common occurence!
Common, no, but with aged wiring comes increased resistance, possible short circuits, and corroded connections. Like anything else, a little preventative maintenance can help; clean and protect connections, inspect wiring for breaks or damaged insulation and replace as necessary.
Oddly enough, mine hasn't worked for a few years (including the first couple of cold nights here) then suddenly it started working the other day... not sure what happened. I haven't done anything electrically to the car lately. I'll have to check the connect later on today.

Still need the know where the melted connector is bump
