Featured Ride - 6G Celicas Forums

What's going on with that? Why isn't Pipes on there (Or why not updated since then)? I was just thinking about if anyone came a long say since the last and Pipes came to mind.

I have wondered about updated rides also...
So I just dismissed it for a few reasons ( which I know you can claer up ).

IDK what it takes to be a feature so I thought:
What has been done that is unique?
Who has a 6GC that is 100% factory and still looks " New "?
Who has a 6GC with the most mods?
Is this one of the items that is beyond current Moderator Controll?
How would 1 be featured with no " sibbling rivalry " over another?

These are the kind of things that cross my mind from time to time.
With so many quality 6GCs, I too would like to see some sort of up date.

Uh, good luck getting the featured ride thing to even happen. That's Coomer's domain.

once chris allows me to manage things, the featured ride will change. (somthing i have been asking him to change for a LONNNNGGG time.)
i've actually been thinking about how we want to do that.

im thinking that we will change the featured ride once every 3 months.
4 cars a year.
keeps it a privlage to be there, but not so few that noone has a chance.
once a month is too often, and not long enough to feature a car, IMO.

what are your thoughts?

I agree that once a month is too much.


Perhaps we can do a quarterly featured ride, and maybe a "Celica Of The Month" sort of thing in the Multimedia forum. People submit pics and a little background info on their Celica, then the mods make a poll, and we all vote. Much like the Top Scoob on nasioc. It can be stickied at the top of the forum and have links back to all previous winners.

I think it would be tight if its once a month.. and people can vote who should be there.. but you cant vote for yourself.. maybe the person with the most featured ride awards a year can get more pics to add or something.. just a little suggestion

While I like the once a month idea, I dont think that there are that many "rides" that would qualify to do it that often. I kind of like once every three months, or every other month. I do like the idea of the end of year winner getting something extra (more pics is a great idea, cover of the calender...although im not sure whats involved in that other than voting). Not that I'd ever make it either way, that's just my opinion.

Yes, I like this (WTF, I'm agreeing with you?). There are many, many good pictures posted in the 'Post a pic of your 6GC thread' and some don't get recognition. The Featured Ride will remain a pretty exclusive honor if done four times a year, and those that might not make the cut for that can get some recognition with CotM.

I think quarterly is perfect.

If we wanted to do a monthly "voted car of the month" in the multimedia section, that would be cool too, because it would be the "car of the month" but not take away from a quarterly Featured Ride which IMHO is higher recognition.

And yeah, Pipes' car should DEFINITELY be the next Featured Ride biggrin.gif

i was thinking of featuring a ride of the year also....
and the main page needs to change in a hurry, its been like that
since i don't know when...
and also the forums code or software needs to be updated so
that we can have more features on the forum

I like that idea and I would love to see you handle this site, you have done an excellent job and with all due respect to all staff, you're the man for the job. Please hound him so that this site can continue to move forward at a better rate. But yeah, I really like that idea, 4 cars per year. Sorry, I had forgot I posted this thread for a second there. LOL

This might even help for future calendars, unless we are fine with how it has been.

Can a previously featured ride make the Celica of the Month? Like Lagos or presure2? I get the feeling that we definitely don't have enough cars on this site to keep a monthly thread going. We'll run out of nice cars in no time and have to put cars with different color fenders and busted windows in there.

I kinda think that after two years there might be some cycling of the same cars. But since its from a multimedia standpoint (I think) then there should be some good choices!

to those that think there isnt enough cars, i disagree. its up to all of YOU to post your cars, and to let others know about the COTM thread.
i think you guys are taking this a bit to seriously. swissferdi's wording is a bit off in the first post of the COTM thread, because it makes it sound like this is another version of featured ride.
this isnt "featured ride", its just a way to get people involved, like a better version of the post a pic of your car thread.
IMO it isnt about who has the most mods, or longest build list. for me, i just wanna see clean celicas. modded, stock, it dont matter. clean is clean. IMO its as much about the picture itself as it is about the celica thats in it.
pics of a 100% stock celica with a nice background looks great IMO and is just as worthy as malpaso for instance, or anyone else on the site.

Call it something like Celica Photo of the Month. That way it will avoid confusion and if people want to put in the effort, they could win more than once or whatever.

I think that would take away from the "celica" itself. If I was a winner, I want to be awarded for my ride, not a picture. There is certainly enough cars for this, I think the COTM thread will encourage people to keep their rides clean. Like Manny said, even a 100% stock celica looks good, its just about which car is cleanest and most deserving.

IMO this is really good idea! Since (if I get it right) Featured ride and Celica (photo) of the month are separated things so why mix it together? For me always Featured ride was the biggest honor when "God him self" (smile.gif) choose one Celica/member (because I believe it was not just about Celica it self but about member's enthusiasm on site as well) who became famous for many months on homepage smile.gif. However Celica (photo) of the month is based on votes of members and criteria "how good photo is" does not exclude anyone and is easy and perfet! And (like a bonus) it may support people to make good picture during whole year (not just few weeks before "picture for 6gc calendar submission" deadline wink.gif).

Having a Featured Ride and a Celica of the Month seems redundant. Creating a Photo of the Month is an idea that is better because then people with cars that have less money poured into them can get some "airtime".

i agree, although its just semantics.
"celica of the month" or "celica photo of the month"...whatever you call it, its a way for everyone to get involved and show off theyre celicas, be it 100% stock, or 100% custom.
