amp keeps blowing fuses - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #72178 7 posts Started by 96stgreendemon
ok so i have a 500 watt amp which has worked fine for me the past few months, now i should say that when i first installed the amp it was all run down the drivers side of the car, i had the alternator hum so i bought a ground loop isolator to fix this, it worked and i left it at that. now today i got my new rear speakers, so i had to pull all of the back of the car out to install them, and i figured while i was at it i should pull the rca cables back to the head unit and run them down the passanger side. so i get all this run and i hooked the rca cables into the back of the stereo, i left the ground loop isolator still hooked up to the grounds but didnt use it, so the amp keeps blowing fuses as soon as it is turned on, can anyone help me out with this

Sounds like a short. You should check all your wiring.

there is a short in your wiring or a short on your amp.

I had a little amp like that when I was like 15 and I blew the fuse, put the wrong one back in and it did the same thing urs is doing. I am not amp repair man but I could get it to work ever again (just back and forth as you described) I would suggest just getting a new amp... a BIGGER one smile.gif
And I would double check ur wiring too.
