Trying to Torque my New Harmonic Balancer - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #72311 5 posts Started by JayRRideR
I recently discovered a worn harmonic balancer on my 94 Celica ST Hatch, so i bought one from my job at Advance Auto Parts
and got it on and new drive belts. My ST is Manual so im having trouble trying to lock the balancer so it doesnt turn. and i have no
impact wrench and no compressor. its just parked in back of the house.

i have a torque wrench & Im curious to know if theres a way to lock my flywheel or the balancer its self so that i can torque the bolt down.
i dont want to take the trans off. If anyone has done this previously or has any suggestions please feel free. Thanks
yes, put it in gear and have a friend step on the brakes.

or you can secure your torque wrench handle side on the ground and have it secured on the bolt and lightly turn the ignition (some would advise against it, others wouldnt)
