Anyone have any headlights better then silverstars?

I know silverstars give great white light but they super suck when it comes to life of the bulb.

I know people who change them yearly and it simply to expencive to do that, when a set of bulbs cost $50. A regular par of bulbs cost only 20 bucks.


So are there any aftermarket bulb makers that make clean white light as a fraction of that cost?

You could also spend a little extra and get HID's with lifetime warranty. I sell HID's and I could get you a set of low beams for your Celica for about $90.00 shipped with lifetime warranty on bulbs and ballasts. Or, I know that Piaa sells some nice bulbs with good lighting. You should check them out too.

thanks ryan, but i dont want to covert my headlights to projector ballast. The reason why i want white light is because i don't want to be bothered by the police having incorrect headlight cut off and blinding traffic.

I believe you can get the HIDs in white.... also the headlight cut off, meh, you don't have to get the import projector housings, they can work in your headlights, also, you could do like what griff had and retro fit some projectors from another car into your headlight housing, meaning it will be usdm already and bam, no headlight cut off issues. Throw some clear lenses on there and boom, no problems.

that is an incredible amount of work. I just want white light, that can simply be done by buying silver star ultras. But the problem i'm having is silverstars are uber expensive and last one year only.

Kmart has some white lights, i think they were only like 25 bux, not sure of quality or lifespan but its always an option too.

there is a such thing as blue halogens

Get HID's, the kits are only like $50-75 on ebay, you can install them in your regular USDM headlights, and you can get 4300k bulbs that look nice and stock colored. I had the 4300k in my Solara and it improved the light output a whole lot while still keeping it looking factory.

i received em and one bulb burnt out so he sent me too fresh bulbs.

than they started too flash than shut off

so i sent the whole thing back for a replacement and nothing.

he will not message back and even has a phony phone number.

They burn out because they get oil from your grubby little hands on them. I simply used the instruction manual in the box they come in to use as a sort of hot pad so that I never actually touched the bulb when installing mine.

I've actually never bought silver star bulbs before. I know people who own some and I've seen countless silver star bulbs burn out in less then 2 years. If you google silverstar life span, you get to see the extent of the problem.

Sylvania Silverstars are not "white."

They're tinted blue. It's a lighter tint than what you'll typically find applied to the "HID-look" or "super white" bulbs which render them so low in light output that they're illegal. You can get that "nice white light" for cheap -- but you'll be getting ineffective headlights as a result.

Please don't mistake light output for colour. If one were to use a garden hose as a metaphor, mixing up light output and colour is akin to mixing up pressure and temperature.

Silverstars are ultra-high efficiency bulbs, which produce 50% more usable light than a standard halogen. This does come at a cost of life. The standard halogen has an expected life of 800 hours while high-efficiency bulbs run an expected 150 hours. Osram (Sylvania's parent company) Silverstars are untinted and meet that 50% additional light point; Sylvania Silverstars only produce 10% more light than a standard halogen due to the blue tint.
