Engine Jerking - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #72631 10 posts Started by GilVilla

I hope you guys can help me with my problem,

I'm the proud owner of a 95 Celica GT std, I have noticed a problem when I hit the gas pedal the engine starts jerking but only between the 1,000 rpm and 2,000 rpm, passing the 2,000 rpm the engine revs up perfectly, I already changed the timing belt, changed spark plugs (NGK iridium), use injector cleaners on the fuel tank and the problem persist, any solution please.
You mean it like jerks the whole car, and feels as if it is shaking? it might be a motor mount if it feels like the motor is physically jerking

Well only the engine doesn't want to rev up like it normally does, I don't know how to explain it properly.
At low rpm when accelerating from a stop, is it acting as though your clutch is being popped repeatedly?

No because the engine also jerks when I have the car on neutral or with no gear on, let me take a video of the car and uploaded on youtube so you can see the problem, and thanks for your help.
Did you replace your spark plug wires as well? If so, are you POSITIVE that you put the plug wires back in the correct order? It sounds like you're misfiring.
Good tips on the timing // plugs // wires!!

We had the jerky motor, like a noob learning how to drive a 5 speed. It started out like a lil miss, but over time, it got real bad!!
So I PM'd a very respected & knowledgeable 6gc engine guru, and his tip was a tune-up.

Replaced--plugs, wires, & rotor. Smooth as glass since.
Hope it's nothing seriuos. Good luck...

Tnks for your help
confused.gif Do you have a way to test the injectors? If you have the plug wires on the correct plugs and the correct distributor towers, I am of no help.
Some one with more experience will be able to direct you better.

Good luck
Check your cv joints to make sure they are fully locked into the tranny. I had the same problem and that was the case and while your at it change your tranny fluid.
