I ran a 15.9 with my car when it was completely gutted with only one seat
Just don't spin the tires when you launch, and don't over-rev. 5800rpms is about the right time to shift. If you hit the rev limiter, you're doing it wrong

get a set of drag radials on light wheels. you will drop a good second on your ET

Just test what revs are best to shift at, our cars maximum torque ends at 5400rpm but if you change at that you have to remember the rpm of the next gear is going to be lower so you are probably better off taking it to 6200rpm (don't hit rev limiter), also drags are all about the take off and the gear change, make sure you do fast gear changes and do take off with minimum wheel spin but also make sure you have enough revs to not bog down.
yeah i personally hit at least 6k when i shift, before limiter of course.

alright sounds good im quicker than my friends so im not worried

I haven't been down the strip myself, but here are some tips from some FWD dragsters that I know...
On the launch, Rev your motor just enough to get one skid and go when you dump the clutch, For most NA cars it's round about 4000 RPM, test this yourself before you hit the strip to find the perfect launch RPM. It's the perfect balance (the middle point) between not spinning on the spot and not bogging down that you want.
It helps to warm your tyres up first, So if it's a cold day do a little burnout on the starting line.
When shifting, get your needle right into the red, put the clutch in but keep your accelerator planted to the floor, shift quickly in a controlled manner and let go of the clutch as quickly as possible. (Obviously as the other guys mentioned, don't hit the limiter while your clutch is engaged, only ping it with the clutch in)
Fold your wing mirrors in.
Make sure your windows are fully up.
Run your heater on full heat, this acts as a secondary radiator for you outside of the engine bay, taking away some of the heat which would normally be blown back towards the engine and your intake.
If your front license plate blocks the front grille, take it off for the drag.

would a beefier axle help? lower tire pressure?

lower tire pressure will only help you on a drag tire, if you are on street tires you want the lower friction

when i started my tires kept breaking loose and i could not get off the line. so i lowered my pressure and grabbed great!
i started with around a 16.33 but near the end i was running high 15's with a best of 15.84
