Check engine light code. - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #72758 4 posts Started by jordisonjr
Alright so I need some helpy guys, last summer my celica threw a check engine light when i hit a rough intersection. I figured it was just a sensor that came loose. well today I finally got it out of storage and i read the code.

So I used the paperclip technique connecting te1 and e1 and it gave me a code twelve. I fond this link: http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/codes/ found in an older topic.

My car read out a code 12, and from this link i found on 6gc it says"

RPM SIGNAL-NO SIGNAL TO ECU FROM DISTRIBUTOR ("Ne" OR "G") AFTER ENGINE HAS BEEN CRANKED
--DISTRIBUTOR/CIRCUIT

--STARTERSIGNAL CIRCUIT

--IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT

--ECU

Now I don't really understand what this means, Im relatively new to cars, and everything has seemed to be working fine since the cel came on. I drove it for abot a month or 2 when the CEL was on last summer, and everything seemed to be running fine, can any of you guys help me out? thanks a lot.

its pretty much the distibutor isnt talking to the ecu, in return you cant get the car started or in my case car doesnt run for more than 15mins

just like the thread i posted in not too long ago (below yours)
