Strut bar installation - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #72829 10 posts Started by deep_jewel_green
Hey y'all. ok so here's the thing. i got my front strut bar brace in the mail yesterday and was all excited until I "tested" the strut bar and figured that the AC lines are in the way!!! did anyone encounter this??? and if so how did y'all go about installing the strut brace?? here are some pics of what I mean. the right strut tower won't interfere with the installation. its just that the AC lines run above and close to the left strut tower, which won't allow me to place the strut bar in place. what should i do??

on this image you can clearly tell that the AC lines are in the way....

could I perhaps move that bracket into that extra hole down there??

If I were to somehow move the AC line would this be affected??

any help/ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
i'm not sure what's wrong with yours cuz mine fits just fine. I'll post up some pics later and show u. maybe you didn't adjust your strut bar right, but I know that it fits. the ac lines shouldn't interfer with it.

put pics of the strut bar...

you may end up bending the lines if you place it there.

i will post pics tomorrow morning once i get a chance to give u guys a better idea of the issue i'm having. I'd just hate not being able to install that strut bar!
here's some pics of mine.
fits very snug. there's the tiniest gap between them.

just enough room.
not being pushed or forced down.

That must be because of the type of strut bar you purchased. Im guessing its the one thats for celicas from Ebay. The one I got is a Megan for Neons. Which as you know requires a bit of extra drilling, but there is next to no overhang (like what you have). I would say as long as it isn't pressing against the lines then it should be no problem.
not only that but cheela's ac lines look somewhat lower in height.

what trdproven said is true!! for some really weird reason cheela's ac lines seem like they are lower. I know that if i put the strut bar in place it would definitely put too much pressure on the AC lines and im afraid that I would damage them. any other options anybody???
drill the hole a little bit larger on the tab to bring donw the lines down..
