Synchromesh Tranny fuild?? - 6G Celicas Forums

Is anyone running this in their celica's? What kinda fuild does toyota recommend? I was thinking of putting it in my g/f's 96 celica GT to prevent any synchro wear. What do you think?
You can buy pennzoil synchromesh at autozone around here for 4.99/qt. Pennzoil actually makes it for GM. I currently run this oil in my 3000GT and it is unbelivable. Makes the car shift sooo much smoother.
So you just put that stuff in as your transmission fluid and it actually makes it shift smoother? Hmm....sounds tempting
Yes, it has a friction modifier in it which lubricates the synchros really well. Its actually made for GM transmissions but has become real popular in DSM's and such. i think im going to try some in the celica tomorrow. I will let you guys know how it goes.
no...Its for manual Transmissions. Shouldnt have synchro problems with a auto >smile.gif>

real easy...if your a auto you will wanna change your filter too. Standards are easier though because you dont have the drop the whole transmission pan and pull the filter out. Still a pretty simple job.
I'll get the Haynes Manual for the Celica. So it's just a drain plug at the bottom of the transmission?

oh yea.. it's a FWD so it's almost like draining engine oil... >smile.gif>

it's a manual btw.

Well, i changed out her fluid and i guess the dealership she just bought it from had just put new fluid in it ( i changed it just incase they didnt). It seems like it takes a few weeks for synchromesh to work in (it did with my 3000GT). I notice a slight difference in shifting so far. Seems like it is alittle easyier to get into 1st while rolling. We'll see if anything changes...
I am using Amsoil Synthetic gear lube 75W90
