mystery wire connectors? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #72885 14 posts Started by mgnt232
So I was wiring up my 5th gen mirrors, and notice on both sides there was a "connector" directly next to the mirror wire connector
Drivers side- Pink and purple wire
Passengers side- Light green and blue wire
Both sides go to a connector, but nothing is connected to it. Like I can see the "prongs" on the inside of the connector, as if you disconnected the mirror connector. Is there something that is supposed to be connected to this?
Just curious, it hasnt been a problem or anything, just wondering
thanks! smile.gif

im pretty sure they are meant for the 4" speakers in the premium systems. i didnt realize that even the st's were wired for them. interesting.
So what about the wire to the tweeter then? Why is that not wired in? or does there exist a high pass / mid range crossover in the doors?

And where does the other end of this wire terminate?

There is a spare 2 wire connector under the passenger seat and a spare 2 wire connector under the driver seat, is this the other end of those door connectors? does this mean the premium audio system has 2 little amps 1 under each seat??

Or does it terminate at the spare blue connector behind cd player??? I think there is a spare blue connector there right?

honestly ur guess is as good as mine. i thought the amp was right under the cd player. but i do remember the 4" speakers having the blue/green wires on one side and something else on the other. ill try to get a pic of it before i sell it tomorrow.
thanks smile.gif

Those two wires in question are for the tweeters.
i wish my st was wired for the 4 inch speakers i would have been really excited to see that!!
So i can just buy some tweeters from a gt and put them in?

Thanks GriffGirl, So those spare plugs are for the tweeters .. Sweet... I -think- I have a spare unused blue connector behind my cdplayer, is this where they terminate?

Yeah they look like the loom for the door panel tweeters.

I have some fitted to my SSIII, you can just see it on the passenger door where the triangle plastic is
