How to remove valve cover? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #73031 8 posts Started by Scosh
How do you remove the valve cover? I got the spark plug wires out and idk where to go from there. I tried searching but I came up empty handed. Im only 17 and working with my first car and learning more about them so please no mean comments.
Nvm then, I guess this was a stupid post. This post can be deleted.
you need to be patient for responses. there are 4 big nuts under the spark plug wires in the square holes. just take them off and then you have to move a few other things out of the way as well like the wiring harness on the left and the one throttle cable holder
Ok thanks, and I thought that was the case because there were 10 views and no responses.
While you're at it, look up the torque specs for those nuts, Yes they are around the spark plugs. You do have a torque wrench right? It has to be even or your valve cover will leak. Get yourself a new valve cover gasket before you put it back on, It may pay to use some silicone sealant around the outside aswell, those *S-FE engines are chronic for spilling oil down the back of the engine from the valve cover gasket, even with a new gasket.

Sorry I don't have those torque specs handy, It's been years since I've had one of those engines.

No worries dude Its a simple job, the 4 spark plug sockets are a 30mm or a 32mm I cant remember right now Ill go outside in a little bit and check for you. the soket is like 15 bucks at Struass. Good quality stuff too. Goodluck.
IIRC torque is about 45deg past hand tight. or maybe that was the splugs. maybe it was 180. crap, dont listen to me...

dont forget to put them down in alternational patten.
