A while back, I replaced the smaller shift cable bushing with a skateboard wheel bearing. Everything works great with that, no complaints at all, but unfortunately I was not able to replace the bigger bushings. I've been tired of the little bit of slop I have in my shifter, so I decided to get around to replacing both bushings, and I'm currently looking for a set of shift cables as well since mine aren't in the greatest shape. I bought these bushings from Ebay, they are Torque Solution shift bushings. They are a very hard plastic. Guess I'll give them a try and see how they work. They cost $27 shipped so we'll see.

I'm just hoping to get a little bit of play out of my shifting. One bushing is stiff and the other is the stock rubber bushing and doesn't look that bad, but I'm getting some play somewhere so hopefully these take care of it.

Forward and backward play? Mine moves nary a few mm left to right, but about a good two cm forward and backward when in neutral. In gear it is a bit less. The connection at the linkage on the transmission side is slightly wobbly for that cable, I've never looked up how to tighten it.

doesnt speed source have those bushings? i alse see they have solid mounts for the engine, do you have solid mounts or the inserts. Im tempted to get them solid...

I have slight side to side play when in gear. Forwards and backwards isn't too bad but the side to side bugs me.

Speed Source does have shifter bushings but if I recall correctly, they are both the same size where I have two different size bushings. My memory may be off but there was some definite reason I didn't want them. I have Kirkosaurus mount inserts. I happened across the front mount insert when I bought the ST205 front end from Dustin and Steff, then bought a rear insert later. They cause quite a bit of vibration compared to rubber mounts, so for the way I drive the car the inserts are a better choice for me. Based on no experience whatsoever, I think a higher torque application such as a 2GR would have more benefit from solid mounts vs inserts.

Thanks Eli! That means a lot coming from you. I'd love to make the trip up North to see your car one day.

Probably going to be a silly question but I had a look on their website and didn't see and bushings listed for our cars. I'm assuming it's because I clicked "bushings" and didn't have time to look anymore after that last night. Besides, here's a picture of my shift cables:

The cables themselves aren't frayed, but the plastic sheath is cracking off. Not the healthiest cables I've ever seen. I'm going to try the Torque Solution bushings out when I finally stop being lazy and install them, but I need to replace my cables before they get any worse.

I ordered mr2 spherical shifter cable bushings and had a machine shop modify my old brass bushings to fit. The mr2 have different size "lobes" i guess you can call it then The celica shifter cables. The spherical ones shift great and feel real smooth when shifting.

The ones I bought came from Australia iirc, but it seems that twosrus has the same set if not very similar.

Let me know how hard the conversion for that steering wheel control is, I definitely would do this for mine!

Also, where did the black door latch come from!?

The conversion will either be very very simple or it won't happen at all. The PAC SWI-RC is an interface that will make OEM steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket radio. You need to solder resistors into the buttons inside the steering wheel then program the interface for each resistor to be a specific signal to the radio. So, in theory, it doesn't matter whether the buttons in the steering wheel are labeled as shift buttons or volume/track buttons because the resistor will send a specific signal to the interface. I'm still waiting on a Celica and IS300 clockspring to show up, otherwise I have no way of getting the signal to leave the steering wheel. Here are the closest things to a how-to I can find for the audio controls:

http://my.is/forums/f103/steering-wheel-st...ontrols-482897/

http://my.is/forums/f90/isx50-steering-whe...fit-diy-479993/

One of the wheels I bought is a 7gc wheel and the other is an IS300 steering wheel with a Rav4 airbag. My OEM three post wheel will be for sale soon.

The door strikers are from a late 90's Lexus ES300. Toyota put Loctite on the screws so I was only able to remove one yesterday, but I took a second cover and put it over my stock passenger side door latch. I'm going back to the junkyard tomorrow with more than just a screwdriver so I can get a second chrome striker from the ES. I just didn't think to take a picture of my driver side after I replaced it. You can find the strikers and covers for ~$20 on eBay, but it's under $2 for the pair at my local junkyard. There are some small tabs on the back of the plastic cover that I had to cut off to fit to my Celica striker, but it's still a very tight fit and it's not falling off. I'd still rather have the chrome Lexus striker so I have a matching pair.

I'm going back to the junkyard Wednesday to get a matching striker. You interested? If nothing else I can send a pair of covers so you'll have what I do on my passenger side right now.

They're from a late 90's ES300. I'll go to the junkyard tomorrow and barb the few sets they have if I can get them free.

Pro tip: IS 300 steering wheels and clocksprings are significantly cheaper than the Rav4/Corolla/Matrix/Celica steering wheels at the moment. Plenty of auto steering wheels with the shift buttons but a few without.

Lucky too, the whole Lexus was wrecked and ripped apart, but the strikers were there and unscratched
