I just got my ViS Racing Invader kit.. I need to know how to modify the bumper brace (the aluminum bar) so that I can leave it on and put the bumper on too.. I have been riding around without it..and the handling isn't as good anymore.

You gotta take it off.

It couldnt have made that much of a difference, do u have the stock brace on the strut mounts?

i want to get this, or order around christmas. How bad is the install? do I need to drill the holes, or are they predone? I'm getting the front and side skirts.
that is a bumper support beam, it does nothing to the handling except cut a few pounds from the front of the car. but if you get in a crash your in deep.

So you HAVE to take it off in order to install the kit? Aren't there serious safety issues involved with that?

Well, except for those two, are there any others that require that support beam off that I should be aware of before I go purchasing one?

you can install the front bumper support with the vis invader front.. I have dont it and it took about 3 min to do.

there are two ways around this.

1: you can cut the corners of the brace at a 45degree angle.

2: you can make a small cut in the front of the kit where the driverside turn signal goes.. this is what I did and you cant notice it unless you are looking for it. I also modded my front opening to allow for my FMIC so that might of helped also but didnt really notice if it did or not.

I chose this route as I had powdercoated my front bumpersupport beam prior to doing this.. If I could redo it I would probably just cut the ends at an angle but thisway works just fine also.

here look - please pardon the dirt is been a while since I have needed to clean it >biggrin.gif>

the small notch under the turnsignal is the cut I had to make to make this fit.. and the turnsignal itself isnt mounted properly at the moment.. it is not a result of doing this with the front support beam.

here is a front shot of it also

What is that in your front bumper? At a glance it looks like an Apexi fmic, but then again, it doesn't look like a fmic at all.
In regards to the reinforcement bar (rebar, if you will), I just wanted to share my (not so good) experience.

One day, I was at a stop light on my way to return a movie. There were three cars in front of me. The first one made a right when it was clear. The second car in line was about to make a right, BUT DIDN'T because they thought they saw another car coming... so she broke hard... the van in front of me broke hard... but I didn't... cuz I was busy looking to the left to see if there were any incoming cars. I BUMPED... not crashed... but BUMPED... the van at about 3 MPH... yes... I said 3 MPH... and guess what happened? CRUNCH!

That's right folks... that's how fragile the kit is... now imagine if I hit the guy at 20+ MPH... scary stuff...

The reason why I'm telling you guys this is because I want you all to be EXTRA careful once you have the kit on.... I didn't have the rebar on... and my bumper crumbled and my high beams shattered.

I was just thankful that I didn't own the AUTHENTIC Veilside kit at the time... which is part of the reason why I always recommend the knockoffs... unless you're some RICH rat bastard... >tongue.gif>

Thanks for taking the time to read my story... and please know that this all really happened to me... and I'm just glad that I have a good brother who spotted me 6 bills to get the front fixed...

Yeah..Well.. I finished the install....the car can been seen on www.6gc.net my SN is 97Celica... There WERE a few problems..and I had to "MODIFY" the front support brace with a dremel tool..the kit from ViS Racing does NOT come pre-drilled but DOES fit pretty damned good once you get past the small hump of the support brace. E-mail me at
lucky13racing2001@yahoo.com if anyone has any questions about the install or post a reply in the forum.Thanks...
nice job. Can u put up some more shots with better size if possible, I want to see exactly how fitment is.

Yeah.. I updated my profile on www.6gc.net under the SN 97Celica with a few more recent pics..check them out for fitment..the only problem I am having is with the gap on the rear bumper with about 1/8" in space that kinda looks like ****...I am having it molded though.
