hazard switch as a fog switch? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #73476 16 posts Started by samir0189
Ok well let me start off by saying i am an electrical noob.

I have a spare hazard switch with a pigtail, and i have some prefacelift fogs im gonna eventually wire in, and id like to use the spare hazard switch to do that, if possible.

Does anyone know how i'd go about doing this? Any pinouts for the switch..... ? is it even possible? Any help? kindasad.gif thanks. biggrin.gif

when you unplug your hazards your ride wont start.

just put in a toggle switch.

no i mean i have a spare hazard switch, so i would not be using the one thats controlling the hazards. If i got it to work i would put it in the driver side vent blank hole.

if it turns out this is impossible ill just end up with a toggle.

i don't see why it wouldn't work just have too know what wire does what on the switch

There is three wires you can use from the spare hazard. 1 to the battery, 1 for the ground & 1 to the fog light. Honestly you are much better off just getting a cheap $7 fog light wiring harness that comes with the fuse built into the wire. That's what I used for my GT-4 fog lights. The cool thing is the switch that came with the wire harness lights up when the fog lights are on. So I know when the fog lights are on or I don't forget to turn them off.

^^^ The one I got didn't even need the relay. It had a tube fuse built into the wire to the battery.
Good idea. I think any switch that has an on/off setting would work, really.

Someone has done this before. I can figure out the pin diagram for you tomorrow. It wouldn't be hard at all. If you figure out how to get rid of the triangles on the hazard switch, I would do the same thing.

I'll get back to you with those pin diagrams tomorrow.
i have done it on a amplifer,i even gots lights, muah muah muah.

Dont remember the plugs.

As a matter of fact i took the switch apart and made my own judgement call and it worked.....

Being that a fuse is a safety device for wiring, it would be a good idea to have an inline fuse somewhere. Of course you could be like me and have the stalk, and an OEM fog light switch and still not know what to do with it. Im still leaning to wiring it in with my parking lights.
well found my pics, really opening it is not a big deal, need to pry on the sides with a fine screwdriver.

once opened, you can tell the conections, any hazard switch is different.

by the way i have an extra one just like the one in the pic. What i did i soldered a blue LED in the inside of mine.

oh, and it can be any switch, i liked the rectangular ones cuz you can put them anywhere,

That's not true. Your turn signals just won't work.

Well, good and bad news.

good news: I got it to work! it was great, everything worked just as i wanted it to, i set the light in the hazard to turn on when the fogs were on, etc.

bad news: switch is too large (long) for the mounting location, and will not fit. frown.gif

time for toggle style switch............
