Fogs, Not Working - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #73778 9 posts Started by Espo
So I got my multifunctional switch today, got everything all set up, and I turned my car on, turned the switch...and nothing.

I hear no clicking as if a relay is going off, like the headlights do - I assume I'm missing the relay I thought I had.

Just need confirmation before I go blow $25 on a relay...don't have time to pull my dash apart atm.

I thought I did. Didn't have time to pull my dash apart when I posted, I had to go to work, so I had hoped someone would be able to tell if I did or not. And that's the howto I followed.

Nonetheless, I'm fairly sure that's the issue since there's no clicking when I turn the switch for the fogs. I ordered a relay today.
yeah i have a 97 st with the wires for fogs i tried plugging my neons into it and nothing happened so just to make sure i ran my neon wires into my parking lights and they worked.. so as you can tell i realized that my car also lacked the relay for fogs.. whre did you order one from?
it's really simple:

blown fuse
dead relay
disconnected wire/plug somewhere

broken switch (I can not imagine how this should happen but it is possibility)

You said you do not hear clicking sound so it's somewhere before relay. First check fuse, than remove relay and switch them on. Find if you have power in relay socket. If you have it's relay. If you do not check wires and try to test switch...

No more replicas... This is evolution... This isSS-four:)________[Featured Celica of 6gc.net @ 2010]_________
Checked the fuse and it was fine, switch isn't broken, I tested it with a multimeter...both wires for my fogs are plugged in, so it's gotta be the relay. Thanks Malpaso!

Is there anywhere else you can order a relay from because my local Toyota dealer did not have them?
you dont have to use a relay and the fancy on off thing on the arm, you can trick the car into turning them on, you put 2 wires into the relay, one a ground, and connect all 3 to a toggle swich, thats how i did mine

^That was the second choice option in Malpaso's thread, I prefer an oem look however so I went the distance...dealership had the thing marked up about 100% though, ended up paying just under $50 after tax. The relay, I meant.

@CelicaST96: They should be able to order it for you if you give them the part number.
@Zfjohnson: Sorry I ignored you last time I posted, I ordered them from my local Toyota dealer.
