nothing, just keep adding gas.
that is how our cars are designed. Changing the tranny to a camry tranny has been discussed, but no much gains,
take off the leaded shoe and put on regular shoes is a universal advice i you are already doing it, then good.

He's saying drive with a light foot; don't floor it or "speed" constantly....drive with moderate accelerations from lights, brake only when you need to, and leave early when you need to be somewhere that way you don't feel you have to haul arse to get there on time.
Basically, drive smart...not hard.

Welcome to driving a 4-cylinder motor. I have yet to own a 4-cylinder car that wasn't at 3-4k RPMs when on the highway. Nothing wrong with it, that's how mine works and I get over 30 mpg.

This. That's exactly what I was going to say. My 5S was returning over 30 highway mpg's when I sold it. It's not really causing any excess wear and tear on the engine. It's not a huge displacement engine, so it's not using a ton of gas like everyone assumes it would just because it's turning 3,000 rotations per minute. Granted, you'll use less gas at a lower RPM, but you should still be getting around 30 mpg.
