Hi guys, I am about to do a 3rd gen 3sgte swap for my celica gt. I am not using my old 5sfe tranny. I think for the time being I have decided on the 3sge tranny. What are your guys opinion with this setup (3rd gen 3sgte / 3sge tranny)? I am trying to make in the ballpark of 300 HP.

you would have to make custom axles. you're better off using the s54 (GT tranny) so you can use stock axles. DEATH is putting down over 300 HP and is doing fine on his stock GT tranny

I suppose that would work, I just dont really want the short gears the s54 has, cant find an e153 that isnt a.)have a problem b.)old and overpriced, and would need a new s54 considering mine is at 200k

unless ur gears grind, i wouldnt worry about your trans. trans rebuilds cost ~800-1200. fairly easy to do, though

Wait! So the stock tranny that comes in the GT (5SFE) is an S54 tranny?
so... 3sge is or is not same as 5sfe tranny? Im swapping a 3rd gen 3s soon, still not sure what tranny im rockin

just stick w/ the s54. easier, cheaper, and you don't have to worry about the axles.
