hey guys I just bought my 17' rims and I found that it makes my st slightly higher than on my original rims, offset 48 but it doesnt scrub anything under fender...

just wondering if there any prob when I change the springs.. dont want to spend too much on coilover...

the tanabe df210 sprongs have the lowest drop. 2.2 inches in the front - 1.5 inches in the back.

if you dont want to spend all that money you could get spring compressors at your local auto parts store, i paid 12$ for mine and i lowered the front an 1 1/2 and the back the same. prity good for 12 bucks.

^ Dont listen to him that is one of the most dangerous and damaging things you can do/get, I mean while your at it why dont you just cut them...
Anyway aftermarket springs are a good way to go as long as you get proper struts that are made for lowering(I think KYB but Im not sure). As for coil overs Ksports makes a good coil over for simple street aspect and are pretty reasonable price.

only replacing the springs with other springs designed to lower or coilovers will work.

now please go outside and take the TOOLS off your car.

ok A-im not talking about the tool, and B-do wee need to get so negative here i mean come on, go ahead and spend all the money you would liike, i have had them on my car for almost a year now and havent had a single probleme.

we are not trying to be mean or hateful... if that was the case they would not advise you to the issue at hand, they would laugh at you and wait for the thread saying "my spring compressor flew off and caused me to crash"... spring compressors are a tool, they are not made to be kept on your car... they are for installing the shocks...

to the OP - tein springs and eibach (TRD) are both good and MANY MANY people are running them here, you will need to replace your shocks to KYB or such - lowering springs will destroy your stock shocks or any cheap replicas - Tanabe are the lowest as mentioned but you will have to cut/roll your fenders on most 17" rims...
i hate to say this - but ebay coilovers - aka adjustable springs - may be the route for you if you are not looking for any performance advantages

prices:
springs - $200/4
KYB shocks - $200/4
coilovers (good) - $800/4

ebay coils tend to blow shocks. i'd get a kyb struts/shocks, with legit lowering sprngs, or legit coilovers.

If its a daily driver and your roads are really rough I'd go with the Tien springs. That's what I have and I love them. Ride quality is much like stock and very comfortable. Although it may not look as low as you want with 17's depending on the tire size.

sorry for the size but as you can see not a good method seeing as it tightens up the spring causing damage to the spring and shock when driven on due to restriction.

he might just be using clamps which really should only be used at shows to lower the car that little bit further while stationary (it usually says it on the box)

yup those are the ones, on the botom picture.

Bottom picture is intended for temporary truck use in most all cases.

they ARE NOT a lowering solution and should not be used to permi lower a car.


CORRECT methods are whats important here, and we're trying to teach you that there is a CORRECT way to do something...and an INCORRECT

while incorrect might be "ok" for the short term or temporarily get you what you want...its not the RIGHT way to do something and it is not the SAFE LONG TERM solution.

Where can you find KYB Struts for $200 for a set? I always thought they were more than that.. my rear ones are shot, but i may do a whole struts \ spring setup while im at it... at 160k im sure its only a matter of time till i kill the front ones..

Im interested in the tein pictures as well.. NY roads suck and i have never been on a car with coilovers that was reasonably comfortable.

To get back on topic... I bought and installed Megan springs prior to my coilovers they were 2.0 rear and 1.75 front... it leveled out my stance really nice. Not to low for speed bumps or dips and low enough to give it an aggressive stance! check out my pics on my profile!
