Soo long story short, I'm painting my silver rims black (Don't worry, they're coming off my FS thread) and while I've had them off and been on steelies, a couple of my buddies decided to play a joke on me and paint my steelies...farm tractor yellow.

It was a funny joke until I noticed all the pollen on my car...permanent pollen, that is. Yellow overspray.

It's on both sides of my car and my windows, side and quarter. I have turtle wax rubbing compund and a mothers powerball...and that's about it. I obviously don't want to damage my existing black paint, so how do I go about removing this stuff without damaging my actual paint? Will the rubbing compound work or is there something better I could use?

alot of times a clay bar kit will work

If its just light over spray you could use 2000 or 1500 wet sand, that usually takes stuff like that off pretty well. doesnt do any damage too the paint and al you have to do is wipe up excess water then buff the areas you sanded. i did this with primer over spray i had.

I don't know how to wet sand tbh - I have very little experience in body work short of alignment, IE body lines and whatnot. The spray is heavier in certain areas than others. Also, I lack buffing equipment.

Wal Mart should have some. I'm not sure that it will work, but I know it's good with taking a lot of stuff off.

To update:

The clay bar has been working rather well with some instant detailer applied to the car.

The goo gone works...sorta kinda. I'm using a microfiber cloth but I think I might try paper towels next.

Without damaging my paint? We got the driver's side pretty much clear, just a few of the heavier areas are stuck pretty good.

Didn't touch the driver's side but this stuff got everywhere because it's not normal paint, it's rustoleum farm equipment paint...it looks and feels heavier than regular auto paint. If that makes any difference.

just dont soak it on there, or let it sit. pour some on a rag, wipe it on, and wipe it off with a dry cloth.

another option and its what we used in my collision repair course at the local college and have to big bottles of it in my shop that get used all the time , just use some 3m perfect it machine polish and a clean towel , circle motions just like waxing it will come right out and wont hurt the paint a bit , if its really heavy you can use the 3m perfect it rubbing compound , then just wipe it clean , both are more exspensive then you will find at walmart or auto parts stores but they work great ,plus it can easly take out surface scrathes and scuffs , any auto body supply store will carry it or something comparable ,

^Excellent advice from the both of you, thanks - I also had the idea of using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser...my mom used it on her van when she hit the garage to get the paint off. Although it says not to use it on "Auto body", my mom's paint is fine...should I take the chance and hit the passenger side with it?

I'll look into some lacquer thinner and the 3m products mentioned above also, if we can't get rid of the rest of it.
