Aftermarket lugnuts - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #74600 6 posts Started by nics
After eating lunch, the car has a flat tire. I decided to change it with the spare donut tire but the lugnuts were aftermarket (motegi). It fits but would it be fine??? I heard that aftermarket lugnuts dont go with the OEM wheel and aftermarket wheels dont go with OEM lugnuts, should this apply to for donuts? Its my girl's car, I just wanna make sure she'll be fine until she take the tire to get fixed. Thanks

Should be fine for the short term.

Most emergency spares are only 50m @ 50mph anyway.

issue can be...the aftermarket lugs vs oem lugs is like this.

aftermarket lug nuts may not have the taper at the end to mate to the taper on the wheel and hold it right and 'coin' it. even the toyota alloy lug nuts have that correct taper to coin the wheel and make it hold correctly...albeit it looks oddly. if in doubt, run to any parts store and just get some acorn lug nuts in the correct thread and correct socket size.
