engine overheating - 6G Celicas Forums

my 7a is boiling the water in the coolant resavoilr. i checked the thermostat. it is fine it opens in boiling water. what could be the problem. oh and the head gasket is brand new. the top radiator hose is hot and the bottom one is cold.

replace the radiator cap. if it doesn't hold pressure it will make the car overheat

Stephen Lee is right, radiator cap.

Or the radiator could be cracked in the plastic, mine had a very small crack in it that made it lose enough pressure to boil, but was very hard to see.

even if the HG is new, did you have the cylinder head checked for leaks and cracks?
