What timing degree should a stock 5sfe be set too - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #74668 4 posts Started by bsamps4
I recently had to replace my ignition coil in my 5sfe, and as some of you surely know, I had to remove the entire distributor from the car to get to the four screws on the bottom. Before I removed the distributor I made a score mark on the distributor next to the bolt that holds it to the engine so that I could realign it where it once sat. The car seems to be running fine now, but I'd still like to check the timing to make sure that it is dead on. I run nothing but 93 octane. What degree should the timing be set to, and should I compensate for the type of fuel I use to yield a smoother more fuel efficient car?
time it to 12 btdc and see how it runs, then try 15.
