what would my celi look like if I lowered it about 1.5" all around on stock alloy rims? is it too low? what can you guys (and gals) tell me from your experiences?
thinking about lowering my celi - 6G Celicas Forums
search in the multimedia forum. a lot of pics there
God made man....Everything else...Made in China
I'm dropped 1.5" on stock alloys and I have no problems at all...other than it really highlights how small the wheels are.
Has no more Celicas
I am dropped 1.5 front and back, with the OEM wheels, not the steelies.
Definately not to low, could possibly go more, but my perference is not to...for comfort of my daily driver.

My old car lowered 1.5" on Eibach Sportlines with factory rims. Only picture I ever took of it when it was lowered, so excuse the poor picture.

The ride was still very comfortable for being lowered. I never had any issues with bottoming out or scraping. Wheel gap was reduced by a lot. Well worth it.

Check my profile 3inch plus look awesome! Lower is better (imo)
The pics in my profile are with a 1.8 drop all around on stock painted alloys if you want to see that drop looks like although those are old pics of my car lol.

Lol thanks, Cheela. The car was the dirtiest that I ever let it get in that picture and that picture was taken minutes after it was lowered. I only had it lowered 2 months and I never took it on any photoshoots, so that is literally the only picture I have of it when it was lowered. Just so you know, on Sportlines, the roofline of a Celica is lower than that of a 350Z. That doesn't mean anything at all, but it just makes the Celica look a little bit lower when you're parked next to a Z.
Presure's car, SwissFerdi's car, _Jim_, lagos, and several others, are lowered 1.5" on Sportlines as well. It's a very common drop. Pictures of it are all over the place. I cite Presure's car because he has 17" rims filling the wheel gap and you can easily see his drop in his sig. If you're looking to get rid of the wheel gap yet still have a comfortable ride and not worry about scraping, the Sportlines are a great way to go. Other springs will get you lower, but will sacrifice ride quality.
Edit: mikew04's car. His pictures are better than mine.

I want to tuck the tire a little bit is my goal sacrafice ride but man does it look good.
perfect! i think I'll go with a 1.5" drop! thanks for your input guys!
tanabe claims a 2.2 inch drop in the front and a 1.5 inch drop in the rear. i have these springs with kyb struts and like the feel. i dont think it is a 2.2 inch drop though. i'd go with tanabe, trd, tein, or eibach.

Do you need different struts? like the kyb? I am not really concerned about the "ride" so much right now, just wondering if i can throw on 2" lowering springs with stock struts, or will its ruin the struts?
thanks
thanks

thats not exactly 100 % guaranteed.. my friend had his civic lowered on his stock struts for almost 2 years before he bought coilovers and he never had any problems, so as long as its not like a permenant fix, i'd say your probably fine.

Actually... That is 100% guaranteed. They will blow. Your friend with the Civic probably just didn't care about how bad his struts were. Besides, why would you get new springs without new struts anyway? That's a bit like having a hot naked chick in your bed and you choose to sleep on the couch. Yeah, you can do it, but why would you?

Bilstein or konis I'm running bilsteins compared to my old set-up with kyb I will never go back to kyb and too much work to make the konis fit from what I hear thats why I choose bilstein don't regret it at all installed everything with my own 2 hands too. Why go cheap when you gone this far already ?? Wait the extra 2 weeks or even a month to save up for real shocks.

As far as the struts go, Jim is running stock struts and according to him, they're fine. Either he's BS'ing or his struts are made of unobtanium. Moral of the story is, replace the struts.
