Junk Yard Smell - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #75075 6 posts Started by zealotbat
I bought my Celica a short while ago…..the interrior smells like it has been sitting in a junk yard for 10 years. It is in excellent shape….I sprayed it down with a cleaner…but hell. It just won’t dissipate.
Flood damage?

a solution of baking soda and water in a spray bottle, spray all the interior and let sit for a day, then come back and use your regular cleaner, vaccum everything to not leave wet areas, that should do the trick.

make sure you spray everywhere where there is clotch ( roof liner, carpet, seats, rear hatch floor cover etc )

Thanx...I'll give that a try. It is raining in my area for the next few days. But on the next dry day I will give it a go.
I don't see any signs of flood damage.
Spraying a cleaner on there isn't going to remove the smells that are embedded into the fabrics. Buy a bissell steam cleaner and go to town. You'll be surprised to see the filth that comes out of the seats.

take the interior out for cleaning....I'm serious. pull the carpet and seats out of the car. wash the carpet thoroughly, dry it, put it back in. pull the seat skins off and have them dry cleaned, check the foam for mildew/fungus.
