The Ultimate Alarm - 6G Celicas Forums

I've decided that I need an alarm on my car since I'm dropping my full coverage insurance (just wasn't worth it). I live in Dallas, so car theft is an issue, but its not horrible. I need something thats secure and convenient and not chirping at me every time a bird ****s on my car. I think I also want a 2-way key fob thiny and remote start.
that i cant help u with.. u can try doing a search for it and compare prices.. but your local car alarm guy can prob def get it for u. its kinda on the exp. side.. around 400$ if u have xeons or anything specail get xtra sensors installed. >wink.gif>
Are you going to install it yourself? 90% of an alarm's effectiveness is the installation, so you need to make sure that everything is installed correctly, hidden well, circuits are tapped into using SPDT relays, etc.

New Toyota project coming soon...
I thought about installing it myself, but I thought of what you mentioned. Are any of the national chains (best buy, circuit city, etc) worth a crap at this? I'm sure I can do it right, but I don't know that I have the time.

I'm down with spending 5 or 600 bucks on it, I know i can buy a good system for that....what does a good install cost? Sorry, I've never had an alarm before.
most car audio places sell and install car alarms...so just look around and see what your options are....
best buy does good installs over here, but i also know the installer from HS and i've held some good conversations w/ the other installer so he'll do me right. Mobile 1, if y'all have one, isn't worth anything over here.
I've been doing some research and the new Clifford G5 sounds like a pretty good system. What do you think?

Heres the page
i suggest any alarm u get come with a pager.. compustar should cost around 400 installed from the place u bought it from.. its very good. u can raise or lower the sensitivity on it also. excellent alarm.. >biggrin.gif>
The Compustar is sounding even better than the clifford now. I like the fact that they use spread spectrum for all their radio transmissions as well as rolling codes. It doesn't get much more secure than that as far as radio transmissions go.
You installed yours right Coomer? Care to give more details? How hard was it? How did you go about hiding things? Etc. (I'm not goin to steal your car, so give up the secrets!!! >wink.gif>
