Projek_01's build/restoration tread =D - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #75413 14 posts Started by Projek_01
I never thought I would have one of these threads!

This starts off with a good-ol 7th Gen Celica wheel. Looks like we have a problem with the cruise control wiring and controls. Each toggle on the cruise control has it's own resistance value. The 6th Gen Celica and the NewCelica use different resistance values so this means open heart surgery. I havent seen a how-to before so if there is demand, ill make one.

The 6th gen stalk PCB with larger resistors with lower resistance

The 7th gen stalk PCB with smaller resistors.

THe 6th Gen resistors were transfered over to the new stalk. The plastic around the resistors had to be cut away to make room for the larger components. Careful soldering is required.

The harness is spliced on to plug into the 6th Gen clock spring.

So; I've just started this project as well... what you're saying here is all that needs to be done is all three 6th gen stalk resistors need to be swapped to the 7th gen stalk? and then I can use the 7th gen stalk like normal?

New Update!

Eastwood Fender roller so I dont have to worry about cracking any paint later on.

Single stage BASF finish in door jams and hatch.

Looking forward to the 040 color change! About another week till the whole car will be towed to the shop and sprayed with DuPont ChromaBase and ChromaClear 040.

Didnt really update my thread after my car came out of the booth. I was a little depressed because the paint was quite oranged peeled and had poor coverage. A quick wetsand/pp helped a fair amount.

Wanted a second attempt at painting a 6GC..
I would say that my Celica is basically done. I am leaning towards saving money for something with more power and reliability and just using the 6gc with the blizzaks for winter.
