Hi folks...run into a bit of a problem. My Celica has been standing for over 1 year so using it as a restoration project.

I have run into a problem in that my "air flow" control lights on my centre console and my electric windows have constant power to them. I have checked all fuses and have found I need to remove the ALT-S fuse from under the bonnet to stop this problem.

My question is has anyone else come across such a problem or any idea how to remedy it?

they are supposed to be lit up all the time.

Sorry but I should have mentioned that this occurs whithout the key being in the ignition. (slaps forehead)

I have had the car for around 10 years without any faults but this one has popped up since the car has been stood for a while. The battery is fully charged and all the fuses have been removed and reset but the problem is still there.

edit: Or any of the other fuses under the hood. That's just to figure out which circuit the lights are on, but i doubt that will fix the problem.

Hiya...thanks for the advice. In my first post I have uploaded a pic to show the fuse that turns the lights/power off is the 7.5Amp ALT-S fuse.

I at a bit of a loss really...I have totally removed the radio and all from the centre console so only the heater section is still connected...and the lights are still on.

Oh wait, the fuse you removed in that picture is the one that turns the lights off? I was under the impression that they stayed on after that one was pulled.


I'd pull the climate control unit out and disassemble it, check for shorts.

I think you're right solidxsnake...but I also have the same problem with my electric windows switches. They have power to them constantly even though the key is not in the ignition as well.

It's strange as I have not done any electrical work on it recently.

could possibly a soldering issue? maybe some of the solder from the custom led's crossed over where it wasn't suppose to go allowing power to go to the lights all the time.

Afraid not...all soldering for Blue LED conversion was done a long time ago now and been running good. I did take the unit out again to double check and it all looks fine.

I'm wondering if there is a short from under the bonnet...maybe something a wire has rusted and caused it?

Apparantly the ALT-S fuse is a permanent live feed...so looks like a short somewhere.
