wink.gif just move to Western Canada and you can have almost anything 15 years or older available to be imported. If I had the coin I'd be all over a GT-4.
Move to Canada.... live there for at least a year... wait a minimum of 4 months just to get the thing shipped over... then figure out a way to get it registered and get a title.... way easier said than done.

I know of 3+ GT-4's locally for sale that are already landed/titled/ready to be insured. 1 in very MINTY condition and is for sale on this forum as well, the other 2 are in decent shape and with a little elbow grease they would be monsters. And if you moved to Canada there is no reason why you cannot apply for a local drivers license within the first week of moving here. After that there is zero reason you cannot get local registration/insurance and own any 15 year old imported vehicle.
It was almost easier than buying a car in the states but this was done years ago and things have changed
since. One key point is car was brought in as parts car so i with paperwork pre done and taxes paid i was
only at border 15 mins to get inspected and had no issues.

lolz when I saw the pictures that's the first thing that popped into my mind, say it's a parts car and deal with the rest later.

Yea Untill your local Vehicle inspections unit inspect you and get you for seatbelts not DOT approved, head and tail lights not DOT approved, wrong standard of glass and all this other crap that realy doesn't make a difference but they still make it so you can't insure your car.

I dunno about where you are, but in manitoba, they have been going crazy with that, posting there units on local cruise nights just bust street racers, which aren't even driving the RHD cars.
My buddy has an s14 silvia, he's had it for months now and he still can't get it to pass a manioba safety because no shop will touch rhd cars all because these inspection units have been giving out crazy tickets and going back to the shops they were saftied at.

And to the OP, how did you managed to import a car, in 03, that was not 15 years old?
Car was buried in a 40 ft trailer and listed as 2 clips . Had a 96 mr2 hanging above it.
Had 0 issues getting to canada. This was years before rush of popular jdm cars and not
sure it would be as easy now.

My opinion on Canada is this , people are great , Govt is horrible, I can't stand big brother
type Govt. I live in midwest so no one here cares about RHD car or what is or
isnt DOT. Im 36 so i won't be hanging out much ,so no worries there. We have
0 inspections on anything so bye bye oem cat downpipe.

Going to frame shop soon..more pics to come

I'm in Alberta, we get away with a fair amount but damn I had no idea about all that DOT crap........that sucks!!!!
Please forgive me but all these past 6 years I thought that you had a running gt4 that you drove on the streets. I remember you popping up every once in a while to post pictures. What car were you taking pictures of?
South Carolina has no inspections, and what we call kit cars. Application process for the kit car is simple, and cheap. You do have to have a DMV agent check it out, but they are only looking for receipts to confirm nothing is stolen. RHD is also no problemo to drive here, seen atleast 3 within the last month.

Insurance can be acquired with no inspection of the vehicle in SC as well.

Guys drive around here with just frames of a vehicle, and big arse engines mounted on the back. Just have to have proper signaling equipment.

Now the border process I'm unaware of, and having it checked out by a Canadian friend. Hopefully I hit the lotto =P

--------

On topic - Lucky lucky you, nice GT4. I'm slightly confused on the span of time taken, but either way...its a GT4!

bump c'mon show us more of that rare jdmness!
Finally home this week after 10 years. Looks nice in pics but lot of restoration work ahead
Fires right up every time and amazingly the JDM gas is 10 years old but no issues
Tires haven't lost any air in 10 years and that was before it was shipped
205 will be stripped to shell and every inch of car will be gone over to preserve it
to like new condition and avoid any rust even though never going to see snow again .
This a weekend fun car so no rush to drive and for me part of fun is restoration .

When i got gas kid working at station goes "sweet supra"!!!! LOL
Bought as a 30 B-day present to myself and now here i am 40 next
year so it will be 40th B-day present to myself .

Oh also anyone interested in 3 spokes and near rally spec jdm winter tires
PM me .

FINALLY! tongue.gif Wow, that's a long wait. So why has it taken you so long to get it back there - just the whole process of trying to get it into the country and registered with silly laws?

BTW, do you still have a TRD quickshifter available? I PM'ed you ages ago and have been trying to hunt one down tongue.gif
No getting here was the easiest part
Life got in the way
Women, Money, Career , House all
got in the way, sometimes all at once !!
Plus i kept buying other "projects" and not
focusing on 205

I have so many requests for that shifter
Will let you know .

Well no exciting ST205 updates but big news is i added another RHD toy to the stable

White 1998 MR2 Hardtop (Beams) w/ 45K miles shipped from SE Asia in a crate 13' Long . 6ft wide x 5ft tall
Cost was 5800 total including car cost to my door if your curious .
Both 205 and 98 have identical Recaro confetti interiors, TRD steering wheels,Optional JDM Toyota Pedal kits and even similar floor mats

Beams will be going into my White 94 MR2 which already looks like a 98 .
98 then will be getting 2GR with TRD supercharger and Evora close ratio 6spd which i sourced from OZ and UK
If i didn't have all of these toys the ST205 be 100% done long ago !!!

Pics up soon

Better update the MR2 tally..... you sir, need to seek some serious 'help' tongue.gif

So is the '98 ever going to be road registered, or a track day weapon?
Any updated and pics on the projects? I've been a member for a while. I spend most of my time on Alltrac.net as member and Moderator. But will be posting here more often as I have a few ST20X chassis cars as well, that I will be working on.
Any progress on the Toys ? smile.gif
