Shifter Cable Change - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #75646 6 posts Started by jeffrosie

Have to change the shifter cables on my G6 convertible from GT type to ST205 GT4 type.

By those who have done it, whats involved and is there anything I should look out for??
Your input will be very helpful - thanks.
205 cables dont work with the 204.

to remove 204 cables its just the pins holding the ends on the gear selector arms inside the engine bay, the pins holding the other ends on the shifter assembly inside the cabin, and some bolts under the car right about your exhaust. there should be a head sheild that you can take off. pretty self explanitory once you get down there and start tracing when the cables go.

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

I'm sure people on here using the MR2 turbo trannie (E154) have done this.
Done, direct swap - couldn't be easier smile.gif
As you said 808, all clear when the heatsheild is removed from under the car.

Now getting ready to drop in the rebuilt rev3 3SGTE
MR2 tranny is E153.

Pull the pins, remove the cables, from the tranny. It's been several years since I did this exact thing, but I remember having to get under the car to unbolt them from the floor.

E153 it is, my bad.
Shift is nice and smooth wity shorter throw. Clutch is slightly heavier as paddle clutch is fitted.
