Clutch on 5SFE celica - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #75719 5 posts Started by dubb_head
Hey,

My 94 celica just hit 125 k miles the other day... I think I am on the stock, factory clutch. The grab point of the clutch is just about half way up of the pedal travel.

I do not have any slipping. The rpm increase slowly, say in 5th gear when under WOT and also in lower gears when I accelerate even in the high rev range all the way to redline.

I do not abuse the car and shes my daily driver...I am curious how much longer I got.

Also the drivetrain, sometimes jerks back when I do not wach my shifting closely. I did all the tune up items and shes got a new distributor as well as new rear KYBs since they were a little soft. The shocks in rear decreased some of the jerks but its still not gone completely.

This points me to the clutch, is it getting tired ? Does the pressure plate have to do anything with this ?

Are the 6 gen celices a pain in the butt to do a clutch, how is the access ? I never did a clutch but my coworker offered to help if I need to do it and he has done clutches in the past.

Thanks all....

Rear tranny mount possibly going out ??

If your RPM increase slowly then maybe you have a vacume leak or something ?

I dont know why that would be your clutch if theres no slip or anything.

I did the engine mounts F and R and it improved a bit...What rear tranny are we talking about here ? I see 2 mounts on each side of the frame rails and 2 mounts for the front of engine and one at back of engine ?

Hmmm I should look into tranny mounts I guess

the front, rear, and drivers mount are the tranny mounts.
