Exhaust Help - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #75785 8 posts Started by Malhar95
Okay so ive got some leaks and holes in my exhaust. Starting from the header, down till my last muffler!

Since im on a budget i need some advice.
Personally i WANT (not need) a complete 3" piping with a badass muffler!

because of emmisions here in TX, i need to keep my res. and cat. converter.

i know my friend has a 350z and has high flow cats and res. with a megan racing muffler!

im not too sure what was made for the 6gc so i need some help.

please vote and tell me where i can get the piping, and what kind of muffler and where i can get all the stuff!

you dont want 3" piping on an N/A car.

no, you dont.

if i were you.i'd get everything new, but i wouldn't get a 3" piping, cause you don't need all that space in the pipes for n/a.

i thought bigger the pipe better airflow, hence faster.

no??

okay so what should i get??

also...where can i find new gaskets for my headers?? (they're the sure2winproduct headers from ebay!)

2 1/4 is as big as you should go on a N/A car. You can go 2.5 but it isnt much a difference than 2 1/4. And you can get the gasket at any parts store for like 10-40 bucks.
k, so 2.25" it is!!

now i have another question...does it make a diff. if the PIPE is branded or not? i mean i know a few places in houston where they have people who weld random exhaust pipe...like whatever size u want for i think 40-50 dollars!

they're used but in good condition(no bends and sortoff smooth on the inside!)

shud i get those? or oreder downpipes from ebay!? OR something totally different?

It depends on what you want, I had a random pipe welded from my header straight back, cat delete, with a magnaflow canister style muffler. Cost me about 200 that includes the muffler. ( Muffler was 120 )
Bigger pipes are usually for forced induction motors. On an N/A, if you have a 3" pipe, you'll lose back pressure hence, top end power loss. The motor will just feel sluggish. I have 2.25" piping all the way down and I like it.
