Fix Sun Damage on Door Panels - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #75877 12 posts Started by JuMPiiN
I used the search function and went through about 15 pages and still didnt find anything.

So, does anyone know how to remove the sun damage ( aka wrinkles ) on the door panels. I CANT STAND IT ! and i really cant find any to buy that dont have it already, I guess its the southern heat.

Anyways if anyone knows how please post here and let everyone know how, I'm sure others would like to know.
post the pics of how bad is wrinkles? or is it small crack lines...if so, i just bought black paint all purpose and sprayed on it...let it dry for a few and good as new.
The best thing to do, is to reupholster your door panels. Such big damage as wrinkles is impossible to "quickfix".

I have no idea how to do that lol. Its kind of like the wrinkles you get on your console lid over time. And I really cant stand them.
I'm not 100% sure they fit but I have seen ST205 door panels on eBay. Not sure how much you're willing to pay either - the item price is more than reasonable however they really do bend you over for shipping.
There must be a upholstery shop within the range of you. Its much better than buy new door panels, and much cheaper.
Yea there isnt, theres one place and they told me it would be like 1600 or something just for my front seats. I laughed and walked out. And eBay ones wouldnt work, Because im LHD not RHD. But thanks for the info man.
The door panels are the same for LHD and RHD car, IIRC.
How is that when your main controls are on the driver side for electric windows and locks. Isn't a RHD car all main controls are on the right door panel on vice versa for LHD.
buy them off somebody parting out
The door panels are in two parts:

1. part, cover
2. part, plastic panel with controls etc.

The 1. part is possible to disassemble from the plastic panel, so you could get a door panel with JUST the cover, not the plastic part. You see?

And, the plastic panels are also same whatever the car is LHD or RHD. Did recently a swap to electric windows on my LHD ST. And the donor doors and panels came from a JDM RHD. I just needed to switch the controls.

Bottomline, unmount the door covers from the plastic and send them to a upholstery shop. I'll payed around 400USD for upholstery of two doors, and thats a Norwegian price. (Which is know as a expensive country) The upholstery work were top notch quality, and Im 100% satisfied.
The plastic that holds the control modules should be the same on both sides. If you had RHD doors then the wiring would be different, but the plastics are just the exact same.
