HI to everybody
ok so i just swap the steering wheel of my car and install the 7 gen steering wheel from UK car and the connection for the horn is totaly different!!!my car is JDM celica and have the following one...:(my old wheel don't have airbag)


there is the 7gen steering wheel from the back:(new one have airbag)


as you can see there is no circle plate like the 6 gen one and can not make the connecton when ineed to use the horn!
so if someone have idea PLEASE to help me

i can not use the old plate circle becouse i just sold the old wheel here...and if i make one i can not keep it in the new wheel

can you get me a picture of what your steering column looks like without the steering wheel on?

do you have the clock spring for the 7th gen wheel? you will need the clock spring to plug in the horn, air bag, and cruise control if equipped. i think you may also have to modify it or find someone that has one already to go for the car. don't know a lot about the whole stock wheel swaps since i'm running an after market nrg wheel. your best bet is to read this thread.

actually you need a clock spring for the 6th gen. i thought all 6th gens came with clock springs, i guess in your case its different...

I think the jdm steering wheel is different. I just bought it from him so I have to figure out how to wire it on my car once it comes in.
I believe I might have an extra clock spring for the 6th gen if you need it for your 7th gen steering wheel.

post a pic of the wheel with no bag (center peice). The horn is a spring loaded push, it needs to be connected to an earth. When it makes contact it sounds.

Don't wory mate - the wheel have a place that you can connect your wire for the horn that comes form the car...the problem is my car don't have - she use this plate surround so i still didn't find a way to connect it!

if i have a airbag everything will be so easy but my car don't have...she is the one from the first JDM produce in 1994...

I believe you might need to take that small white plastic ring off too because your clock spring is different then the US ones. I believe I will need that piece so my setup will work. If you pay shipping, I can send you a US 6th clock spring (if it is compatible with the 7th gen steering wheel.)

That's just my thought, if anyone absolutely knows, please feel free to correct me.

I'm kind of in the same exact situation. I installed a gen 7 celica gts steering wheel on my gen 6 gt4 from japan. I've worked my way temporarily by doing some wiring, but it's not the best. My flashers also don't come off by themselves because I don't have the clock spring.

I am planning on doing a home made kind of clock spring made out of metal and wood, but I would have prefered to get a real clock spring.

So i fix the horn and flashers today
Thanks a lot to Mike "mkernz22" for sending me for free a clock spring from his car - so this is the only part that you need...
...then you just need to make conection from the horn (green wire at the back to the clock spring...and from clock spring to the wheel) and it's ready - 5 min job and you have horn and flashers working again with your new nice looking steering wheel from 7 gen celica

Thanks for confirming that a 6th gen clock spring is what I need. I was about to make my own, it would not have been that hard, but I prefer having the real thing.

here is 2 quick shots of the wheel and seats from the 7 gen
so i put 2 diff style dark sylver real leahter on the wheel becouse the seats are black and silver colour and the car is silver so i thing look nice

I installed the 6th gen clock spring this weekend to complete my 7th gen steering installation and all is working again.

When I didn't have the clock spring, I made sure the horn was working allright, because I need to have a working horn by the law, but my flashers were not ticking off by themselves, which was kind of annoying.

It's easy to install the clockspring, the only problem I see is that the holes I had on the clock spring didn't match those on my car. Oh and I was missing the pigtail (the one that has the wires for the horn and cruise control, not the one for airbag) that's facing the driver (not the one in the back), so I needed to use one of the wires for the airbag (which I don't need because my car doesn't have air bags). I'll need to find that pigtail eventually, because I plan on installing cruise control eventually.
