I mean, let's talk anime. What's a good starter comic for a complete n00b?
If you liked Dragon Ball Z, a good starter comic would be of course, Dragon Ball. haha. And Naruto and Bleach are both very great stories. Naruto is about ninjas and ancient beasts and Bleach is about soul reapers and their great enemies called hollows. Also One Piece is just amazing, it's about pirates.
And of course, if you're a car enthusiast (which I wouldn't doubt), you can't beat Initial D. All about touge racing on mountains in Japan.

>You definitely need to get your hands on a copy of Yakitate! at the least; a show about baking bread...it sounds boring but it's funny, informative, and never boring. Full Metal Panic is great too - just make sure you watch them in order: FMP, FMP Fumoffu, and then FMP: The Second Raid.
Also, Read or Die had two series: a 3-episode OVA came first and then a 26-episode series later with new characters. Both are awesome but the longer series is my favorite by far!
Woah there's a longer ROD? I've only seen the 3 episode series and the movie! I need to look this up! Have you read a manga called Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer?

>Note: All of those also have anime versions but I'd recommend the manga (comic) versions first.
And yeah, definitely read the manga first and then watch the anime. It'll bring all the still images you enjoyed to life! And you'll be able to recognize fillers from the real story line and you won't get confuzzled.
