hehe good stuff man.

Well I contacted prosport and it looks like they made a change to their gauges about a year ago. So my old style ext temp gauge is only blue and cannot turn white at all, and the old ones have slightly less powerful LED's as well (as seen below). So for now I'll keep the blue all the time set up, but eventually I will upgrade so that I can have both gauges go white during the day.

Also I found a picture of the switches in a stock BMW

I need to figure out how they turn on and off. There is a high and low setting on the switch, but no off position like the toggle Toyota seat heater switches Dustin has. From what I gathered, the wiring on the back of the switch is as follows:

Wire
1: illumination +
2: Power (Hi?)
3: Power (Low?)
4: Ground (Illumintaion -)
5: Heat Pad Back
6: Heat Pad Seat

So this might be more interesting than I thought to get it to wire up correctly, but I'll make it work.

I'm getting good at spending money...

Seat Heater Elements

I got them at a great price. Its the same kit that sells for 75 shipped per side. Snagged both sets for 90 shipped.

Now I just need to get new seats... I can't justify putting them into my ripped leather seats that are currently in the car. I'm in the market for 7th gen leather seats. Trying to get a set at a good price. Anyone have a good estimate at what they run for? I was seeing prices around 300.
Looking great man! I love all your custom work as well, and I'm starting to go that route with some things as well haha
I do have an extra set of 6gen seats that are in pretty good condition, well, actually, I'll have 2 sets of extra sets of seats in a few weeks lol
I might be interested, got any pics? I also realized that I drive right by Norton every weekend when I head up 95 back to Gloucester from my school down here in CT. biggrin.gif
Took the CC unit from the coupe apart since Eric (previous coupe owner) had made it blue.. but it started to get testy. I opened it up to find quite the hack job.. wires twisted around the LED posts with no solder or anything. So I ordered the following LED's to do this correctly as well as a few other interior pieces:

(all Blue)
1x 8mm Neo-wedge
3x 10mm Neo-wedge
12x 3mm LED's

Here are the pics of the hack job:

I also confirmed that the BMW buttons work in this manner.. push either high or low once and they come on. Push them again and they are off. I assume they illuminate when on as well.
Now I need the elements to get here so I can figure out how to make the wiring work. The elements say they need 10 amps consistently (at high heat?) and the gauge wire on these switches is small. I'm thinking its 18 gauge? If so, at twelve volts that means it really can only support up to 10 Amps. I'll wire it all up and see how it works and then go from there. If the fuse in the seat heater kit is 10amps then I think I'll be alright.

How you like that weighted knob? My dad has a weighted knob on his shortshifter in his Bimmer DINAN 3 and it feels real good.

Absolutely love it. I couldn't recommend it more to anyone with a short shifter. The car slides right into gear now without it feeling like I have to push it in. I was using a different shift knob that had very little weight to it and I almost felt like I was forcing it into gear (more force needed since the leverage changed compared to the stock shifter). The weighted makes it perfect. I like this one, although it is a bit cold when the car has been off all night, since the knob is solid brass I believe. Still though, I wouldn't change a thing.

Now if only the TRD knob was weighted... anyone know what the TRD knob weighs? or mind weighing theirs? This Blox knob is 450 grams.

>>Progress:>>
-Installed Subs (2x12 Kicker)
-Moved Cig Lighter to Center Console
-Started converting Projectors to LHD

I did the projectors as listed in the how-to, but I think I had them in too deep of a pot, water got in and messed up the chrome paint... How can I fix this? Luckily its on the side marker part where the lense is a bit wavy and harder to notice..

I'll weigh mine later.

So I am having a tough time deciding where to put the gas/trunk button. I want it to look as OEM/stock as possible.

here are some choices/ ideas that have come and gone..

originally I thought I would put it here..

But don't want it to look out of place and actually can't make it fit there without lots of modifications.

Then I thought here..

but the hole from the dimmer is bigger than where the buttons would stick through and would require me to add some filler to this plastic piece. I'd rather not paint this plastic piece if possible since it will be hard to get the black to match the rest of the plastics again?

So these are two other alternatives:

I like keeping change in the tray so am not sure if I want to do that idea, and the stock switch wouldn't be hidden in that manner.

I could just remove the pull handle ones and set the switch up in that spot, but then I really feel like it defeats the whole purpose of me putting in the switch in the first place. I'd rather get it off the floor too if I can.

Thoughts?
In all honesty, I'd keep the levers. I prefer them! Buuut let's see... maybe, I dunno if it'll be more trouble than it's worth, you could cut a piece out from the side wall of the center console and hide it there?

wait, if you use the buttons, don't you need some sort of electronic release system?...
you should put it where the ash tray is, just make a piece that will fit perfectly in there and the wrap it with CF!
I think that would look good
Hector,

I am kind of fond of the levers, but after buying the trunk popper i got creative. maybe I won't put them in. I only want those switches if they look good where i decide to use them..

Mike,

I was going to put a small solenoid in the gas lid to have it release via button instead of pull cable.. maybe not though? We'll see.
ahhhh I gotcha, well hopefully it will workout well for you!
Made my Climate Control Blue this past week. Came out well. The background lighting is a bit too purple, but not bad overall. The individual LED's look great though.

However.... I also discovered I need a new clutch.
Your chance for upgrade!! Lol

put the switches in the "blank" rectangle spots under the steering wheel?

haha, yea that is usually how I see it, but since I want to get a 3S under the hood within a year. I'm not sure I want to go all out on a clutch for the 5S if its only going to see 5k miles tops.

Yea I thought about that, but they are angled so far down that you can't see them at all. It might be the best spot though.
Teaser..

This is coming from Malaysia as we speak.

I already know what hood that is! haha
