My low beam seal is all loose, it doesn't hold on to the headlight. Is it usually glued to the lamp or just clipped? What type of glue can I use to make it stick to the lamp (unless it only holds by clips)???

My other seal seems all fine and doesn't seem to have any type of glue. But the one that is loose had like some kind of dried glue/whatever product on the inside face.

only the top center of the seal is held by a clip, and the rest is held by glue. i've tried superglue and that didn't work well, i might try silicatak (sp?) next time which is a type of glue used for installing windshields.

when i took mine apart to fix a leak, i put it in the oven, it softened the glue enough to un-stick it and stick it back together. so try placing it in your oven at a low temp for a little while, then press the lens onto the plastic housing and wait. i also used some glass sealer around the seal to try to help. and here its been over 7 months and no leaks.

putting it in the oven is the worst way to do it. get a pot a water, boil it, make some sort of hangin device to hold the headlight and just let it sit until the glue softens. but to put it back on, use some sort of silicon glue

That does sound like the best way to do it, though.

the boiling method worked pretty good for me. i had to use my $5 windshield cellphone mount to pull the glass lense off.. lol. came off real easy btw.

how is it the worst way? get a cookie sheet, put some aluminum foil on it, set the lamp on it, (glass not facing down.) set the oven to the lowest temp, and wait 10-15 minutes. pull it out and use some oven mitts or something so you don't burn your self, and it comes right apart. no damage done...

You have a higher chance of melting the plastic than with boiling.
I'm just stating my opinion on it that I think the boiling method is safer.

Also, I shouldn't have said the worst way because the worst way would be trying to pry it off with a screw driver or something lol

ok guys, i did mine with boiling water method. I just put the headlight for 5 minutes, and it came out nice.

to remove the crap from the glass i used wd40, and thats what i plan to use for the casing.

Now the reasealing part, i have researched and some nissan guys use oem butyl rubber, nissan sells it, the problem is that is black.

I have not found that stuff in gray. Now i can do black but its going to look wierd.

i dont plan to use silicone, i have heard too many sad stories, but there are good stories too.

So please investigate. I have had the projector open for 3 weeks, mostly cause im lazy. But ill get around to do it.

i will probably do the black stuff.

Thanks for all the replies but I was mostly talking about the rubber seal around the lamp, not the glass part.

So i guess only silicon glue will do the job??

Get some rubber cement, gorilla glue, automotive adhesive, or contact cement haha

loll sorry for the noob question. I just didn't know what type of glue was good for rubber against glass.

I've used clear silicone (bathtub sealer type) on the rubbers and it works fine.
