progress pics of modifying 404 lip for gt4 bumper - 6G Celicas Forums

ok I got a 404 lip from matt AKA easternpiro1 thanks bro... this will be my progress thead about modifying a 404 lip to fit my gt4 bumper! here are some pics...

i cut the lip and now the bumper will be one piece with the lip and the fender will be one piece with the fender too..so i can remove the bumper without having to take the lip off





there i a gap that ill fix with fiberglass smile.gif





finished molding it! now need to sand it

It will fit, but takes a bit of modification (including filling in two 1.5" gaps), so for best results you will have to blend it in.

My bodyshop hated doing mine laugh.gif

yeah most places will not! blend kits. But if you have the time AND patience its really not that hard to do. I had no experience before mine, and everything came out fine.. with alot! more work than that

it looks really nice you mold it by your self or shop did it? and why the lip is divided between the bumper and fender? the lip isnt supposed to be one piece?

I had a shop do it smile.gif

I wanted to retain the ability to remove my front bumper (access to FMIC etc) so I asked for the cut to be put in, if it were all fully blended in I would not be able to do so. Also helps make it look more OEM I reckon.

Just realised our lips are different, looks like yours is for the facelift (404a?) and mine is for pre facelift (404?). Check under the indicators smile.gif

are you sure your lip is the 404/404a lip?

the side profile doesn't look like the 404:


or the 404a:


the curvy lines don't look the same...been trying to look for which is like yours but can't seem to find it...can you give me the contacts of where you got it? thanks

To me, Marco's lip looks to be similar to the GangsJail/Z-Glyde Type-3 Lip.


The Erebuni 404/404a lip is a replica of the GangJail/Z-Glyde Type-2 Lip, which is what Rob's lip looks like.

Looks like it's going well mate biggrin.gif

You have probably realised already, but you will have to fabricate a couple of brackets to hold the front to the bit on the wing at the bottom.

really like the way you guys are having the sides cut then molded so you can still remove the bumper.
looks clean, and functional.

yeah haha i custom made some brackets for each side where the bumper meets the fender wink.gif

thanks! and before i paint the car does some one suggest me to do somenthing to the body? some custom thing to make it look better?
