Engine Mounts - 6G Celicas Forums

K, my car is a 95 and i'm thinking my mounts or atleast one of them needs to be replaced. Whenever i go over a speedbump i'll press the gas and my entire car will shutter and shake...kinda like axle wrap if you know what that is, but the thing is i dont have a straight axle on my car lol. So i'm thinking the motor mounts need to be replaced. I also hear a thumping sound when going over bumps or accel. checked the suspension nothing there but just leads me to believe even more its an engine mount. How much do those things cost to be replaced?
A couple hundred. You can just check them, theres front, behind the radiator, and one on the back on the tranny and one on the right on the tranny. Make sure they arent torn or anything.

hmm i'll check tomorrow. I believe the one above the tranny is gone, it had a big crack in it. You think that's suffiecnt evidence?

LOL, i did that in my truck once, the wheel almost came completely off the truck it was funny lol. But to answer your question yes they are very tight! It's more of a muffled thump sound.
if they are cracked ro whatever, you can use this expanding silicon foam stuff instead of replacing them, because they are hundreds of dollars. Its this silicon spray that you spray in it, then it hardens like 10x better then the original mount. You can pick it up at autozone or auto places.
I just replaced three of my mounts and if you want I show you the invoice of what I paid for them from the Toyota, and trust me they were not that bad.
new engine mounts from toyota are around 160 dollors..
